Tried to get on many times today to check some details and the site was offline or unavailable for ages.... any ideas what happened??

It wasn't just you and it wasn't just me. It was down for everyone according to http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/.

I have a backup blog (link in my signature). I have not done anything with it yet, but it would be a good meet up place when the forum is down.
