Some GameStop stores have these in stock at $5 again now. Check online to see if your store has it.

I don't know if this is the official Steam Link store which also sells Steam Link $.99 + $7.99 S/H. The S/H cost really kills the deal.

the Steam Link I ordered came with the mail today, I'm going to try he chroot way first, but ofcourse a direct install would be better. So I hope there will be a way to achieve this :).

I tried to place an order, but the S/H cost of $6.99 adds up and I decided just to grab 4x from one of the local GameStop stores @$4.99 each. Now, it is time to hack this.

Bodhi, do you a version of uboot for this device, especially that supports FDT?

The kernel is for the MVEBU boxes (Armada). But I also configured in the Berlin SoC in so that it also supports other boxes (such as the Sony NSZ-GS7 and the Chromecast, and Steam Link). It is purely experimental. I don't know yet if it will work for the Steam Link. According to one of our members, the Sony NSZ-GS7 secureboot can be bypassed.

As long as I can connect serial console to the Steam Link, I think I can find a way to bypass its secureboot.

still... the Steam Link comes with a nice case and 2,5A power supply, wifi and bluetooth. Would be a waste if we can't repurpose it

exactly, even if it is some years ago, but remember how happy we were with the pogoplugs or the dockstar. There are many things we could do with them :)

I would happily crack mine open, but even if I would find some promissing pins with my eyes, I wouldn't have any tools to probe them. So I'll sit tight and wait for the pros to hack it :D

Not sure what did you mean. The website says it is not available, but you need to check your any of local GameSTOP stores that may still have some in stock. When I purchased this, the website said out of stock, but checking local stores indicated they might still have it. So, I headed out to the nearest store and grabbed some.

Also, if you live in Canada, some of the EBGames stores there may still have it for $5.99 (I believe that is a Canadian $).

it's actually only 3€ S/H for the whole order 5.99 of max 3 Steam Links. So it's a total of 20.97€ for 3 of them delivered, around 7€/piece

I think he meant boards in general, from other devices and such. I don't think he meant different revisions of steam link boards.

Now, Steam Link is $2.50 each. However, the $7.99 S/H cost really jacks up its price and makes it very unattractive, AFAICT.
