Yeah it won't get thrown away I'll tell you that. There's a lot of things I haven't tried, another 30-30-30 and a complete new UART adapter to another USB TX thing.
I'll try one more evening when I prepare a better bench for this; hopefully this weekend. Remote switch the power and check there's no hair metal wires in there, or any other excuses for this to be flaky.
I'll keep in mind to send this to someone nearby if/when I give up. There has to be useful parts even if its toast, the 5v supply, a module inside... etc.
For now, any troubleshooting do tell.
