Make your inexpensive GoFLEX Home/Net SATA HDD cable

I noticed it is sometimes necessary to directly connect a Seagate GoFLEX Home/Net to an eSATA port on a Linux desktop computer for some sort of troubleshooting purposes. Unfortunately for a person like me who lives frugal life with a limited budget, such a SATA cable from Seagate can be a rather expensive one to have. It is for this reason, I started to scour both AliExpress and eBay to buy inexpensive parts (see below) to build my own SATA cable. Below is a list of parts I bought:
  1. 22Pin SATA Cable Male to Female cable US $1.24.
  2. 40cm 15+7 Pin Power/Data cable US 99₵.
  3. SATA 22P 7+15 Pin Male Plug To SATA 22Pin 7+15 Female Jack convertor US 69₵

Item #1 above can be used alone to connect any bare SATA HDD (sans an enclosure) to a Seagate GoFLEX Home/Net and/or a PogoPlug Series 4 (POGO-V4-A3-01) SATA docking port. The attached picture (20180506_112744.png) shows item #1, coupled with item #3, is used to connect a SATA HDD (with an enclosure) to a Seagate GoFLEX Home SATA docking port. If you just wanna connect a bare SATA HDD (sans an enclosure) to a Seagate GoFLEX Home, then all you will need is item #1. For item #3 above, I had to use a utility knife to strip off some of its plastic casing to elongate the male port (see the attached picture - 20180517_000339.png). So, with a limited budget of US $1.68, I now can couple both item #2 and #3 to connect my Seagate GoFLEX Home/NET SATA HDD (with enclosure) to an eSATA port on my Linux desktop computer (I still need to bring out the HDD power port.

I hope this will help others.
