Thanks for the reply. From what I can tell the SanDisk cruzer fit flash drive is starting to fail. I have an acronis image of the drive that I can restore to a different flash drive. Eventually I will get around to upgrading uboot so I can load a newer kernel. Thanks again.by SomeoneOnLine - Debian
Not sure what the heck happened to this little guy (Zyxel NSA325) running I think debian v7x. I havent checked in on this guy in the last maybe 1 or 2 but when I did today I noticed i was able to ping it across my lan but that was it. No ports seemed to be open including ssh. WTF? I connected serial console via putty and get the below output during boot. Last entry is "/bin/sh: usbhid:: notby SomeoneOnLine - Debian
I haven't used my NSA-325 v1 in a while and when I went to boot it up with 2 spare 3TB sata drives got my hands on I found that the usb thumb drive was not good anymore so i got my hands on a new one (same model 6gb sandisk cruzer fit) and loaded created a single new ext3 partition with label "rootfs" and plugged it into the same usb port as the old failed sandisk cruzer fit. Thanks. I guess I over looked that part of the OP. My bad. Is there much benefit with 3.17 over 3.16 on the nsa325? I was thinking about updating my uboot but too chicken il brick my nsa325. I have a serial to usb adapter that I use with putty to connect to said com port and interact with uboot while the nsa325 is booting. So I am attempting to setup/prep the newest 3.17 kernal on a 32GB Sandisk Micro Cruzer with the rootfs from op on my ZyXEL NSA325 v1. I starts to load all the way then reboots. about maybe 30seconds after it starts the boot debian. My boot log is below. I have a working 3.10 image on my other 16GB sandisk micro cruzer that works fine. Any ideas? _ _ ____ _ | | | | | __by SomeoneOnLine - Debian

I have the NSA325v1(512MB) and have not been able to get OMV working on it but want to. Could anyone suggest to good tut on getting OMV to work on the NSA325 running debian wheezy? Currently I am using webmin but really want to get away from webmin. I like the webinterface of OMV. ~SOLby SomeoneOnLine - Debian
Iv been using a 32GB cruzer fit for a few months now with no problems. I take the drive out every so often to make a image of the drive just in case it fails. Works really well.by SomeoneOnLine - Debian
I have a v1 nsa325 and was able to boot from the left sata drive but ended up booting via USB flash drive since I wanted the left and right drive setup as raid1. Just had to tweak uboot. ~solby SomeoneOnLine - Debian
I had the same issue when I tried to use a HDD. I think the drive wasnt spinning up fast enough to be initialized before boot kicks off. That was the case with my nsa325 v1. I ended up using a small profile flash drive. I played with uboot sleep setting but it didnt help. ~solby SomeoneOnLine - Debian
Just out of curiosity should I expect to be able to configure my nsa325 as an iscsi target running the 3.13.1 rootfs or kernel? :) If so could anyone maybe recomend a good writeup I could follow to get it to work? ~SOLby SomeoneOnLine - Debian
I have a spare DLink DNS-323 that im not doing anything with at the moment. Would I be able to setup this debian rootfs and kernel on the dns323 like I did with my xyzel nsa325? Thanks. I figured sata would start first but in this case sda is sata1 sdb is usb and sdc is sata2. I just though it was weird that the usb was in the middle and not in the beginning or end but not in the middle.by SomeoneOnLine - Debian

physical drive "dev" ordering when booting from usb versus sata drive. If I boot from the left sata drive with a matching drive in the right drive bay the left drive is /dev/sda and the right drive bay is /dev/sdb and a attached usb drive is /dev/sdc which is fine. If I boot from usb the order changes where the left drive is /dev/sda and the right drive is /dev/sdc and the usb driby SomeoneOnLine - Debian

currently I have 2 partitions. sda1 is boot and sda2 is rootfs. but really I dont care. I was able to finally get it to boot off ide and it was working from what I could tell. Now Im hoping to get it to boot off usb. im going to prepare an old but fast 8gb usb flash drive here in a bit and see if it will boot off that. didnt really like the external usb hdd (I think spinning up took too long).by SomeoneOnLine - Debian

ok. Thats basically what the archlinux install script was doing for the most part. this is the install script I have modified and am running. I'm having a hell of a time getting it to boot to my prepaired usb drive. Usb drive doesnt stay powered on after a reboot so that ot can be booted off of.
