I have debian running on a thumbdrive. I can surely help you with writing a guide, although I am not much of a debian expert. To be honest, installing Subsonic on a running Dockstar is pretty easy, as its developer offers *.deb packages for download.by Anima79 - Debian
Hello, to give you some perspective - Subsonic is running great on my dockstar. It tends to be little slow, because it utilizes really a lot of memory, but playing my rather big music library has been a breeze so far. I tried both Jinzora and Ampache earlier, but both had problems either with aac or with aac lossless. Subsonic has also the best looking interface.by Anima79 - Debian
Hello Oscar, thank you very much for your advice! I can confirm after successful reboots that your proposed solution works as expected.by Anima79 - Debian
Hello Gorgone, Shorewall now works perfectly! Thank you for your time and efforts! Anima79by Anima79 - Debian
Gorgone, thanks for your help! That would be perfect... Anima79by Anima79 - Debian
Hello Gorgone, thank you for your kernels, they work fine for me - except one problem: I've tried to install shorewall yesterday, and could'nt get it to start. The error message has been: "Your kernel/iptables do not include state match support. No version of Shorewall will run on this system" Would it be possible to include this state match support (via conntrack, Iby Anima79 - Debian
@Oscar I didn't check for speed yet, and can't until next weekend. I will post my findings then. If it is really that slow, I will have to get another device, as I use my dockstar as a router on a 25MBit line, and the USB adapter is connected to my ISP.by Anima79 - Debian
Thank you for your reply, hanker! Now, that you mention it, I remember not having seen this references to mtdblocks earlier when issuing fdisk -l. Is there a chance to get rid of these? Sorry, if this is a beginner's question - I am not that used to Linux...by Anima79 - Debian
Hello! First and foremost: thank you, Jeff, for your wonderful work! I followed your instructions, and have a wonderful working Linux router now. However: when issuing a fdisk -l, all mtdblocks (mtdblock0, mtdblock2, mtdblock3) are marked as (for example) "Disk /dev/mtdblock0 doesn't contain a valid partition table". Disk /dev/mtdblock0: 1 MB, 1048576 bytes 255 heads, 63by Anima79 - Debian
Hello! With my dockstar, I use a Wintech LAU-15 USB-Ethernet Adapter (around €10). With Gorgones Heavy-Kernel (somewhere explained in this forum), it worked out of the box. My dockstar is now a proper and fine router. Good luck with your search!by Anima79 - Debian
