bodhi, many thanks for your advice! Great that you spend time to help others. I actually had to reverse TX/RX pins and now serial console works like a charm. I set change_boot_part to 0, rebooted several times and up to now it works. (consistently boots into custom kernel) What I would really like to understand is what change_boot_part does. bodhi, thanks for your advice. I decided to give it a try hooking up my USB-TTL-interface to the serial port of my NAS326 box. Don't know the chip but from the driver I assume it is a FT232. If I hook it up and try to boot the NAS remains in a state with all leds shining continously which is, if I understand the descriptions in the forum here, normal (waiting for commands on serial conby michael_kaeppler - Debian
Hi all, I'm running Debian 9.9 with kernel 4.19.1-mvebu-tld-1 on my NAS326 box and I am very happy with it, excluding one problem: The box does not boot reliably. Every second (or third, I was not able to figure it out clearly) time I shutdown the box with shutdown -h now and try to boot the box again, the box remains in a state where it is not reachable through samba/ssh/etc. While iby michael_kaeppler - Debian
Works like a charm. Thank you! However, I had some problems first establishing a ssh connection. Seems that my router did recognize the box as the "old NAS326" (from the MAC address it already knew), therefore somehow blocking the connection..? I had to remove the device from the "List of known devices", then it worked. - michaelby michael_kaeppler - Debian
Thank you, bodhi. Will try this today. Am I right I also have to set the uboot envs regarding NAND? fw_setenv mtdparts 'mtdparts=pxa3xx_nand-0:2m(u-boot),2m(env),2m(config),15m(kernel1),110m(rootfs1),15m(kernel2),-(rootfs2)'/code] What do you mean with "correct MAC address"? Hi all, the method described in https://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,32146 for setting the MAC address in /etc/network/interfaces does not work for me. My router's webinterface shows a different MAC address for the box each time it connects, thus assigning a different IP each time. Hi bodhi, thanks for your help! Using a different flash drive now worked for me. With best wishes, Michaelby michael_kaeppler - Debian
Hi bodhi, thanks for all your effort you put in here! I repeated all steps today, in addition to the last try I did a raw format with my flash drive before partitioning it. Same situation as before. Attached are the console log of the usb flashdrive preparation steps (usbprep.log) and the ssh console logs while changing uboot settings.
