Hi, This is project which I did to simplify the process of switching of my server: https://code.google.com/p/mpd-lirc/wiki/PowerSwitch Additionally it has RGB LED to show current boot sequence status. Regars, Adam.by bedek - Debian
Actually I was able to turn the LEDs in blinking mode using standard Debian kernel version: Linux nas 2.6.32-5-kirkwood #1 Tue Mar 8 10:56:14 UTC 2011 armv5tel GNU/Linux the only pre-requirement was to have that version of standard Debian kerne and execute command: fw_setenv arcNumber 2998 and then reboot. Here are my scripts – name are quite self explanatory:) ledGreenBlink.sby bedek - Debian
Is it possible to release led support as module for debian squeeze and not as compiled into the kernel ?by bedek - Debian
I would like to know which photo frame can be hacked in the way that: - it does not require recompiling kernel - it will run with standard debian kernel - it does not require charging the internal battery - runs out of the USB power - backlit is functioning - is connected over USB - it will be support by linux4lcd Could you provide link to ebay/amazon/any other page where I can buy it aby bedek - Displays
I've just downloaded arm5 java from sun, my question are: - What is you experience with that java for arm5 ? - Is it possible to run Jetty or Tomcat or any other java web servers ?by bedek - Debian
Hi, This issue is solved ! I was compiling lirc_mceusb2 module which might be bit more up to date although is still broken. The solution was to build ONLY lirc_mceusb and DO NOT build lirc_mceusb2. From that point on everything worked fine :) Thnx for all tips above - they helped me a lot ! Regards, Adam. Adam Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Iby bedek - Debian
As I understand if something will go wrong in this method then my Dockstar will be bricked :) ? I think I will go for lotus49 method.by bedek - Debian
I did a lot of customization on the application level. Although I was hoping that it's easier process (like it used to be with lilo).by bedek - Debian
Hi, Still haven't solved this problem - is there anyone who can help me ? Regards, Adam.by bedek - Debian
Hi, I suppose that the one of the most popular is: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Remote_Control_Reviews#Microsoft_Media_Center_Remote_Control Here is instruction how to install it in Debian: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/MCE_Remote#Debian_GNU.2FLinux_4.0 But because I have special kernel I could not fully complete this procedure (it work on Ubuntu fine). Hi, I had similar idea with using real remote, here is great description (this is for mpd): http://www.musicpd.org/mpd-lirc-howto/mpd-lirc-miniHOWTO.html Regards, Adam.by bedek - Debian

Sorry I wasn't clear, I'm running Debian from USB HDD and I've switched to Jeff's kernel with LED support - now I would like to switch back to original kernel which came with Debian. PS Is it possible to release led support as separated module ?by bedek - Debian
Hi, This is probably for most of you trivial quesiton, how can I switch back to the original kernel shipped with Debian ? Regards, Adam.by bedek - Debian

Another option: - timer used for bathroom fan I've just found this device: http://www.elektrobock.cz/en/timer/product.html?id=6 it's typically used for delayed switching off bathroom fan after the lights are turned off. So the idea is: - switching on (router + modem + nas) - just turn on all the device with one button - switching off - router + modem are turned off immediatelby bedek - Debian
I've did some tests using power meter, here are my results: a) modem + router = 10 W to 11 W (file transfer) b) dockstar nas = 8W to 9W (50% CPU load = torrent + mp3 + test script for creating and deleting tmp 40MB file every 5 seconds) Overall calculation of average cost in Republic of Ireland are: a) modem + router = 1.12 EUR per Month b) dockstar nas = 0.89 EUR per Month PSby bedek - Debian
As I wrote in my post "I don't want to run network devices 24/7" - and it's not only because power consumption. PS On the weekend I'm going to use power meter to check how much power use my devices and will post it here.by bedek - Debian
ad2 ups solution: Probably it would be possible to build some battery powered device which would replace UPS - at the end it will be used only for graceful shutdown of the device. Can anyone provide me simple electronic schema how to build such device ?by bedek - Debian
Hi, As Dockstar don't have any button for switching on and off I would like to discuss possible options. My target is to have ON-BUTTON solution which means that router + modem + nas will be switched on and off using only one button - to simplify process of turning on and off. To clarify upfront: - I don't want to run network devices 24/7 - if we add up router + modem + nas it mby bedek - Debian
I think there is support for armel till version 9.04 (or close to this) which practically means that you might miss a lot of security update not mentioning that probably new version of apps will be not released.by bedek - Debian
