Hi bodhi, Thanks for all your work on these plugs. I just want to report my experiences with netconsole and upgrading U-Boot on my GoFlexNet. I first got netconsole working (using Jeff's env settings from the first post in this thread) (although I only tried it once, so I can't say for sure that it would have worked consistently). I then upgraded U-Boot (from, IIRC, a 2011 version) tby Atrocia - uBoot

I've long wondered about this, with regard to both my Go Flex as well as other embedded devices. Upstream is constantly upgrading the various kernel releases - e.g., on mby Atrocia - Debian

I obtained a USB / SATA adaptor, and now everything works fine! The system booted, and I upgraded to Squeeze. Now I just need to figure out how to configure the thing to boot from SATA. Thanks for your help.by Atrocia - Debian
Ok, thanks to both of you. I'll get a hold of a serial adapter, and see what I can do.by Atrocia - Debian
Thanks - I'll buy the adapter and hooks. I notice, btw, on Ebay, adapters that seem to include thingys that seem like they're designed to connect to pins, e.g.: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230646566597 I don't currently have a SATA / USB adapter handy, so I haven't tried attaching the drive via USB. I did try installing the rescue system to a cby Atrocia - Debian
Thanks for the help - I'll have to look into your suggestions. I usually avoid hardware hacking, since I have no experience with soldering - does your method, involving wire hooks, require any particular skill, or can a complete novice manage it?by Atrocia - Debian
Thanks much for the hints. Can you be a bit more specific about exactly what I need to do in terms of installing Debian on a known working USB drive? I assume that I use debootstrap to cross-install an armel system onto the disk, but do I need to make any modifications to the basic install? What about naming and placing the kernel / initrd?by Atrocia - Debian
Hi, I'm at my wits end here, with a completely unresponsive STAK100. I originally installed the improved uBoot, following Jeff's instructions from here: http://jeff.doozan.com/debian/uboot/ I then tried to install Debian Squeeze, following his instructions here: http://jeff.doozan.com/debian/ This failed, due the problem discussed here: http://forum.doozan.com/read.by Atrocia - Debian
