Finally, I got festival working. Results are not great with poor voices, only english. keep an eye on this other thead too: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=751169 But thanks anyway. It's not worth getting an automatic text to speech, under linux, nor windows. Because , you first have to retouch accents, pronunciation defaults, punctuation ... Hi, I am trying to install basic tools to convert a text file to wav or mp3 sound file. Easy to do under windows. But I need it under dockstar. I've heard of festival. I tried flite and I got an error about default audio device. Is there any contribution for this or detailed installation and usage procedure. Any interesting topic would of great value. What would I need to do it? thankby skyrail - Debian
Hi I recently tried to create an XFS partition on a usb stick. For this I installed xfsprogs, made fdisk to create a linux partition and format it with and use mkfs -t xfs ... command. I seems to do something, creating inodes, etc ... But, when mounting, it failes, telling me: debian:/tmp# mount -t xfs /dev/sdb1 /mnt/g mount: unknown filesystem type 'xfs' this is my distrib veby skyrail - Debian
Bravo! good idea. We need beta testers to get clean and proven install procedures. We need to centralize essential information. When I first came to this forum, I found a lor of sharp and organized setup info from other forum that led me to doozan. But I found here what I expected: the most accurate and detailed feedback from passionated members. That is not synonym of fully functionnal solutionby skyrail - Debian
Hi, Recently I crashed my dockstar because of php running in an unending loop which made may usb disk full. So I unplugged it electrically. At next boot up, everything was ok except samba not working properly. Login from win7 was ok, but browsing shared folder not working anymore. Fortunately, I could make a backup from acronis image. I had then to reinstall LAMP, samba, minidlna and reconfigby skyrail - Debian
ok. I checked for OOP calling parent method with success. But there was still a problem with locale. I had to reconfigure locales. I cannot imagine I had to do it. Only english was installed. What I did: # sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales (check language to install and validate) # sudo locale-gen fr_FR.UTF-8 # /etc/init.d/apache2 restart now php can display date in french or any other lby skyrail - Debian
Hi, I am using my dockstar as a small web server for local area usage and test before deploying my web app on a dedicated web host. I installed debian squeeze with apache, mysql php 5. It is working pretty well except on a few points that might become truely annoying in next part of my project. OOP does not seem to work entirely. I am in the same case. Installing lenny, upgraded to debian squeeze 8 worked fine. Tried all the usb slots, perfect. Move to the hdd to anoher dockstar, no proble at booting. I decided to clone my boot partition to compact flash. I failed to clone it to smaller volume. So I decided to install lenny to CF from scratch. Setup worked fine. Tested debian on sandisk sdhc 4Go (extreme3 => class 6). it looks working fine with average 15 Mo/s r/w. Boot is pretty fast but not enough. Just consider booting on sata disk, it's far better faster and more reliable. I also booted on compact flash 16 go Silicon power 200x (25Mo/s read, 9 Mo/s write).
