After a couple weeks of use I am happy with my current setup having rootfs on the first internal hard drive. I never got the script in the wiki to work OK for shutting down using the power button alone, but was able to get "shutdown now" working using a combination of both the power and the copy/sync button which is better for me. Sorry for all the posts, I would have deleted this if I could I think it will be OK. I messed up the environment and used setenv dtb_file /boot/dts/kirkwood-nsa320.dtb boot to fix it, not sureby Joe123 - uBoot
Thanks again. I think the nandflash worked OK, I was not able to do a few of the backup commands such as fw_printenv > current_envs.txt but it boots up and I can access it using ssh. once again, thanksby Joe123 - Debian
Once again, thank you to all that may offer help: Moved my ext2 rootfs from old drive to new, larger drive and still able to boot up Debian using kwboot, but it takes several tries before I get the timing right. My goal is to have Debian boot without any intervention using the serial cable. I do not want to go back and hate messing with the stock uboot, prefer to use new uboot but confused onby Joe123 - Debian
Thank you very much! It booted to Debian after I made the changes you posted. I still have a way to go, ( bigger drives and eliminate the need for kwboot ) but feel much better about it now. Once again, Thanksby Joe123 - Debian
I tried many times, just can't get it right. Stock firmware no longer boots, something about bad magic number. The closest I can get is using kwboot and a old sata hard drive. The stock firmware worked before starting this process, my goal is something for file storage using nfs, possibly samba. Thank you for any help you can offer to show me what I am doing wrong. kwby Joe123 - Debian
bodhi, Thanks for the help, Updated: It is working now...Now ready for the next step joeby Joe123 - uBoot
I have a functional Zyxel NSA320 that I would like to replace the older drives and install Debian and new u-boot etc. The NSA320 is currently set up as JBOD. Currently everything is original with a few addons for NFS etc. With Debian I only need NFS and SMB for file storage, with sleep wol etc. I have read many of the instructions but stuck at the very beginning "Flashing uBoot to mtd0by Joe123 - uBoot
