I was able to get Rescue system 2.8.2 working on a Pogoplug V4, here are the steps that I followed for those interested. :) I modified the mtdparts so that the original mtd1 and mtd2 were merged as a single 6M mtd1. The rescue system's kernel was 3.5 MB and was not fitting in the original mtd1. Other than the below changes everything worked out of the box. Even Pogo V4s arcNumber and machby varkey - Rescue System
Quotebodhi @varkey, Yes it does! bootcmd is set up to boot USB, SD, SATA in that order. So if you plug in only SATA it will boot SATA. -bodhi Perfect! :) Great work.by varkey - uBoot
@bodhi : Does your uBoot for PogoV4 support booting from SATA?by varkey - uBoot
It was the character encoding setting in putty. Changed it to UTF and everything displayed correctly. http://thegreyblog.blogspot.in/2009/08/configuring-putty-to-use-utf-8.htmlby varkey - Debian
This article suggests that the default driver which comes with the kernel ie rt2800usb doesn't work as expected. We may have to compile the driver from source.by varkey - Debian
You probably need to install the packages wireless_tools and wpa_supplicant https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wireless_Setup#Install_user_space_toolsby varkey - Debian
Ah ok, thanks! blparam, now I remember, its been a while since I used all that. Will give it a try with a serial adapter handy along with a full nand dump! :Pby varkey - Debian
Thanks bodhi, that is exactly what I want. The default Pogo rootfs uses less than 32 MB, so I was thinking of making the root partition 40 MB and the remaining 72 MB for the 5th data partition. Now my next question, how do I go about changing the env vars of the stock uBoot. Do we have to install the fw_printenv/fw_setenv binaries and modify the settings file to point to the stock uBoot enby varkey - Debian
Is it possible to change the partition layout of the internal NAND? By default the rootfs is on a 112 MB mtd4 partition. Thanks bodhi & twinclouds I wonder why it wasn't even mentioned anywhere till now. Another reason to start working on the Pogoplug Mobile that I had bought few weeks back! :)by varkey - Debian
I wasn't aware that there is a wifi chip on the Pogoplug mobile. Can't find any references or specifications anywhere.by varkey - Debian
Not sure what I am doing wrong, but the "--->" doesn't get displayed. Check the attached screenshot.by varkey - Debian
For some reason my uBoot got corrupted and wasn't booting properly. Ran Jeff's uBoot updater script and as expected showed an invalid MD5SUM, so ran the script with no-uboot-check and it installed the latest uBoot without any issues. Everything back to normal now! :)by varkey - uBoot
@bodhi - I didn't have a rootfs for the GoFlex Net. It was for the Pogoplug Pro I believe! ;) The guide you followed also uses the jeff's uboot installer so you should be having the latest uboot. This rootfs will be fine -- http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,7806by varkey - uBoot
^ This link says it has a RTC with battery backup -- http://www.globalscaletechnologies.com/t-guruplugdetails.aspxby varkey - Debian
^ Thanks. Finally I just opened it and used the serial adapter to flash the new uBoot and used davegravy's new kernel! :)by varkey - Debian
I have a similar problem with a GoFlex Net 1. No rescue system, no netconsole. 2. Uses older uboot 3. Boots from the USB drive, but due to the error not able to change any environment settings. @davygravy : Will your patched kernel linked above work with older uboots? Is there any way without using a serial adapter?by varkey - Debian
^ Thank you Phil and bodhi! :) Once I flash the stock uBoot, do I need to do anything about the uBoot environment? Is there any device specific information (the serial number or something like that) that needs to be entered?by varkey - Debian
I have few Goflex Home devices on which I have installed the new uBoot and have debian running. Now, is it possible to go back to the original Seagate firmware? Can it be done if I have no backup at all? If I have the mtd dumps will it be possible? TIA! :)by varkey - Debian
@bodhi : If you use the 3338 arcNumber, will both LEDs on the GoFlex Home work? With the GoFlex Net arcNumber only one LED is working.by varkey - Debian
@Jeff : The install script didn't preserve the ethernet mac address on the GoFlex Home. I had to manually set the ethaddr uboot variable to the correct value after installation. Without so, it used random mac ids and got a different IP each time it booted. Will you please check what's the exact issue?by varkey - uBoot
No, do not reboot. Rerun the uBoot installer and see if it works.by varkey - uBoot
^ Great work! :) Will test it right away! :Pby varkey - Rescue System
@davygravy : Please check http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,6550,8029#msg-8029 Might be the reason why the /dev/sdx etc are not created automaticaly.by varkey - Rescue System
@davygravy : The new rootfs didn't work for me. Not sure why, maybe its the pendrive. Don't have a serial cable attached so not sure what's happening. I did check the logs folder, but nothing is there. Edit : It booted at the 3rd try, not sure what was wrong! Weird.by varkey - Debian
Quotedavygravy I thank you so much for trying that. When you say it didn't preserve it do you mean that it would have to be restored from the env that is nanddumped just before flashing? Or ? I mean, it didn't set the ethaddr env variable automatically. Quotedavygravy Also, what about upgrading U-Boot on a Debian system? Or other (e.g. ArchLinuxARM)? I'm assuming that this scby varkey - uBoot
@davygravy : I've created a mirror of the uboot files along with your updated uboot. Jeff's script as such didn't need any moidifcations, just had to upload the newer files and name it appropriately. http://uboot.varkey.in/install_uboot_mtd0.sh I tested on a out of the box GoFlex Home and it worked fine, although it didn't preserve the ethernet mac. it seems to be an isby varkey - uBoot
I was able to modify Jeff's uboot script slightly and install the GoFlex Home uBoot within the OS. All the device checking mechanisms seems to be already there and I guess it just needs minor modifications to install the newer uBoot.by varkey - uBoot
