JoeyPogoPlugE02, you do pretty good tinkering, but why don't you detail your processes, by way of sharing. Your hardware hacks are quite good, but I've clicked on your Google plus links so many times, only to see pictures, and not much by way of descriptions or details. For example, the radio service you built to make use of your fm radios was also great. I found it, looking for HowTo iby notoneofmyseeds - Off-Topic
Thanks for your contribution. It won't work on Jessie, because the verson 7.9 .deb file at slimdevices is not compiled for armel for Jessie. Something about Perl. I'm on Jessie. This part below here is on the original post, where this solution can be found, but I don't know how to use it, as the file there is not a .deb file, and so I can't use dkpg -i. I have noticed recently that issuing shutdown now Shuts the pogoplug down, but partially. And that is to say the green LED stays on. I test whether the box is down, by SSHing into it, and got: ssh: connect to host 192.x.x.x port 22: Connection refused There is a USB stick in the front port. Hello David, Can you please detail how you did this, I'm trying to do the same, having used wget to download: https://server.vijge.net/static/squeezebox/arm-linux-gnueabi-thread-multi-64int.tar.gz And have extracted that to a folder I created in: /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/ Probably wrong directory and so will need to re-download to the proper directory. I think mine is V3. I can verify this, because I made a purposeful error on the " Export media to allow access for v3 clients ONLY" line and with the V4 line as suggested, I got an error. After after correcting the error, which was writing a share that does not exist, it worked well. And is still working. If only I can get SAMBA working, I'd be moving ahead.by notoneofmyseeds - Debian
Hi, I can see the share on Thunar, click on it and it asked for user name and password: root/root does not work. After using those credentials, I get: "Failed to mount Windows share: No such file or directory." I know there's such a directory because it shows up as a share, I only can't access it. Some feedback. I had to remove "hohide" as was causing an error I don't now recall. Thanks to all for the guide.by notoneofmyseeds - Debian
I have done all of the above, but can't write to the USB stick. I simply copied and pasted bohdi's file, after deleting the contents of the existing config file. While on the xfce desktop, I can write to the shared stick. But connected via Thunar, as root, I can't write to it. Any suggestions would be great. I need as well to set up users, shares for them, etc. But that comes laterby notoneofmyseeds - Off-Topic

I placed the first script where it should be. The results: I logged into xfce but did not find any mounted media. I clicked on "media" and "mnt;" nothing. You bohdi! you're awesome! Thanks this is great. I'd edit your post to include mkdir .vnc and then onto to 2. A word of advice if you're here, if you have not created an account on your rootfs, be careful using this as you'd be using root. And with a click, click, click, it's easier to mess things up. Hello, I thought I'd read a thread that details how to transfer rootfs to hard drive. I need to do this because of the some of the services I want to run. I want to do this to SSD. I'm trying to follow the guide here: http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,21784 I hope that by following that guide, to install xfce desktop, it will save me from mistakes with a text editor, as stuff will be more visual. Thanks a lot. I have made the backup, unplug the USB and put it in the pogo, but now it won't start. The backup, after modifying this: cd /media/sdb1 to this: cd /media/sunnsea/rootfs and then doing this: time tar -cjf /media/sda1/bonk-rootfs.tar.bz2 . & placed the backup to the USB stick, which I copied to the desktop, along with these: Debian-4.4.0-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfsby notoneofmyseeds - Debian
And oh, I forgot to ask, can I go ahead and delete the tars from the USB stick, to save space. Namely, Debian-4.4.0-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2 and Debian-3.16.0-kirkwood-tld-2-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2? Thanks a lot!by notoneofmyseeds - Debian

I have backed up rootfs And have downloaded and extracted "Debian-4.4.0-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2" to an ext3 formatted usb stick, that is named rootfs.
