And this is the PPD file from foo2zjs folder looks like the same file. :P same md5 when unzippedby daviddyer - Off-Topic
Found it on my Rpi printer server at /usr/share/cups/model/HP_Laserjet-1018.ppd.gz I don't know if this is what you need. In my experience with HP 1022, foo2zjs driver for HP 1022 works better than HP's driver. If I scan a picture then pipe print to the HP 1022 printer, HP's driver sometimes won't work, but foo2zjs always works.by daviddyer - Off-Topic
You can create the root file system disk on ANY linux / unix computers, eg, raspberry pi with raspbian, Intel / AMD computer systems with Linux live CD / live USB, etc You don't need to create uEnv.txt, that file is not required to boot the system... That file can be used to save a Env-messed-up box or test some environment variables.by daviddyer - Debian
Well, all you need is a properly made USB boot disk. Your new U-boot is already there. Follow bodhi's detailed instructions, make one or two USB root file systems and try to boot again. SanDisk brand is highly recommended. Use USB 2.0 drive. This is not bricked. If it is bricked, you will not get anything from console.by daviddyer - Debian
You can now do some research on kwboot / jtag...by daviddyer - Rescue System
You can try to find old versions of driver for PL2303 and use the old driver in Windows 10. I have a fake Nokia ca-42 cable, after I applied the old driver ( Windows 7) in windows 10, the cable works great again in Windows 10. ---------- The best part of CP chip is: It might support higher speed, such as 1,500,000bps, which is requred in Rock64 serial connectionby daviddyer - Debian
1 Dockstar is good. No need jtag since the led still flashes. If there is no led activity at all, then jtag MIGHT help. 2 Your serial connection might be wrong. Pi3b used hardware Uart for Bluetooth. Disable Bluetooth to use the Uart. Also, enable Uart in raspi-config but do not output a console to Uart. Fix the Uart you will get something from Dockstar. 3 once you get the booting info fromby daviddyer - Debian
I guess it is always a good idea to get a reliable power supply first. As I mentioned, these boxes are about 10 years old, the power supply might not last so long, especially those high current ones. A bad power supply can cause very strange problems and these strange problems are not easy to reproduce. :Pby daviddyer - Debian
Well, these plug computers are about 10 years old... time to change a power adapter... I had two failed power adapters already for dockstar / goflexhome. Replaced the power adapter and my plug computers are great again.by daviddyer - uBoot
Try to destroy the old gpt or MBR completely by dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdc bs=1m count=1 Then fdisk and mkfs again.by daviddyer - Debian
Is it MBR or GPT? Old uboot won't take GPT.by daviddyer - Debian
Well, you can buy two for $15 from Adorama directly or Adorama via eBay with free shipping -- keep one as a backup. :Pby daviddyer - Rescue System
In my opinion, get a cheap LGA1155 motherboard (eg, Dell optiplex 7010 , I got mine @ $12.99, it has USB 3.0 ) and a cheap CPU (eg, i5-3475s, I got mine @ 15.99, $4 per real core.:P ) from eGay, use your own wasted memory, case, etc, you will get much better performance and you can even install latest MacOS catalina! on it! You can also use the 16GB 'SSD" from M300 and install debian/lby daviddyer - Debian
Just use one long long long command to cover it all. This is mine (copy / changed from bodhi's) fw_setenv bootcmd_nfs 'setenv nfs_server "192.168.7.87"; setenv nfs_path "/opt/kirkwood"; setenv nfs_bootcmd "run nfs_set_bootargs; run nfs_boot"; setenv nfs_ipconfig "192.168.7.8:192.168.7.87:192.168.7.1:255.255.255.0:kirkwood::off"; setenv nfs_by daviddyer - uBoot
I want to mention that sometimes, we need to make a little change here: ....nfsroot=$nfs_server:$nfs_path,rw,v3... (Added rw) I tried 4.12.1 root file system on NFS, without rw, file system after booting is still R/W but with 5.2.9 root file system on NFS, without rw, file system after booting is read only, with rw, it is R/W I guess kernel issue? default was changed?by daviddyer - uBoot
It will be very easy to debug if you have serial output.by daviddyer - uBoot
If it works, don't mess with it. If it doesn't work, congratulations! You got a new toy to play with!by daviddyer - Debian
I have an Eye-Fi 4GB SD card. Used in my camera, set it to "local transfer", installed eye-fi server on my dreamplug / debian box, all the pictures will be uploaded directly to the debian folder I set. I can then access the pictures from any device at home.by daviddyer - Off-Topic
Your dockstar has serial ... You can use that...by daviddyer - Debian
I got a HP elite 8300 USDT from a friend for $60. Very good deal. i5-3470, 8GB memory, 320GB HD, later I replaced the CPU to i5-3475s and upgraded the 320GB HD to a 500GB SSD, installed Mac OS Catalina 10.15.4 and windows 10 Pro on the same SSD. My daughter loves her "Mac"by daviddyer - Off-Topic
If you have raspberry pi, you can just use Rpi as the serial adapter---you just need to install raspbian, boot it, run raspi-config to activate serial, but don't use serial port to login, then use three cables to connect Rpi's TX/RX/GND to your box's RX/TX/GND, run minicom or picocom whatever on Rpi...by daviddyer - Debian
This will make it happen easier: 1 reboot 2 heavy disk I/Oby daviddyer - Debian
With traditional HD, I did see similar behavior, but not very often. With the 16GB SSD, it happens often on one M300, but NOT on the other M300. I posted the ENVs of these two boxes in the other thread, but I did not do further research Since the system is still usable, I did not bother with it.by daviddyer - Debian
I'll do the translation for you. (google translation, it turns U-boot to Submarine) I have an NSA325v2 NAS with that SoC: Kirkwood 88F6282_A1 and U-boot 2017.07-tld-1 (Sep 05 2017 - 00:42:03 -0700) I installed openwrt on it. Since I can not cope with openwrt, I would like to install Ubuntu and / or OMV on it. How do I start? I have Putty and a usb to RS adapter.by daviddyer - uBoot
/mnt is the NFS... BTW, if I mount the rock64 NFS from an Intel i3 machine, the read/write speed is better. About 7x /6x MB/sby daviddyer - Off-Topic
Just install with the default settings. I did not change anything. Rock64 used a 1TB 2.5" WD USB 3.0 hard drive. Powered by USB. Read from the rock64 directly on rock64 to check raw speed root@rock64:~# dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/null bs=4M count=512 512+0 records in 512+0 records out 2147483648 bytes (2.1 GB, 2.0 GiB) copied, 18.5152 s, 116 MB/s mount rock64's NFS from anotby daviddyer - Off-Topic
Update: After I added a heatsink (without fan), it seems to be able to finish compiling aria2. It seems stable. But if you run "reboot" or "systemctl reboot", it will not be able to reboot. I need to power off and then reconnect the power. Googled, it seems an old problem since the pine64.... Well, at least much better performance than dockstar in samba / nfs /etc...by daviddyer - Off-Topic
These machines are pretty solid, but the power supplies are not. Maybe you need to get a good power supply and try again.by daviddyer - uBoot
RECON1 -- the box has no openings for the HDMI, but if you take the board out, you can have the HDMI port ---it's on the board. As I said, it's a standard ROCK64 board. Check for pictures / details here for the stardard ROCK64 board: https://www.pine64.org/devices/single-board-computers/rock64/ It actually has an IR receiver and one power / one reset button!by daviddyer - Off-Topic
