I used a number (say 10?) of USB flash drives and micro-SD cards. I have not had a single one that didn't work. The performance/speed vary though.by twinclouds - Debian
I would guess it is discontinued. As an production product, it is bad. As for experiment only, I don't think it's matter.by twinclouds - Debian

For Squeeze, when I try to mount a xfs partition, what I got was mount: unknown filesystem type 'xfs'. Is there anything else I need to do using?by twinclouds - Debian
That was I was thinking about. I will get one anyway. Thanks for confirmation.by twinclouds - Debian
Yes. I did all the other steps but still not getting faster. Maybe I should try again. Do you use Lenny or Squeeze?by twinclouds - Debian
Considering the current price ($20 in US), it looks like a perfect match for Dockstar.by twinclouds - Debian
I installed xfs file system according to the instructions. Somehow the speed remains the same. I don't know why. Any suggestions?by twinclouds - Debian
If it is a concern that the USB flash has limited write cycles, is the 1.8" micro hard drive a good alternative? Currently, the 20GB Toshiba drive is selling for $20 at Ben's Outlet: http://bensoutlet.com/products/toshiba-20gb. Not sure about its quality and power consumptions, though.by twinclouds - Debian
O.K. It works now (mounted) after I did a depmod -a.by twinclouds - Debian
Hi, Falk: I followed your instructions but the disk was not mounted. I tried to manually mount it using " mount -t xfs /dev/sdb /share." The response was "mount: unknown filesystem type 'xfs'." Is there anything else I need to do to make my Dockstar recognize the partition?by twinclouds - Debian
I followed the instructions in http://forums.plugpbx.org/index.php?topic=109.0 step 3. You can change the Asterisk and other program's version and it should also work but not always.by twinclouds - Debian
I tried VNC but it was too slow to be useful. I have not tried freenx yet.by twinclouds - Debian
I was successfully installed both 1.4 and 1.6. For 1.6, I tried upto 1.6.2.11 and settled with 1.6.2.9. I agree 1.4 is probably more stable and uses less RAM. I am right now mainly using 1.4.by twinclouds - Debian
I used Google translation. The texts are fine but the scripts were corrupted. Can you provide the scripts and necessary steps here. (In English, hopefully. :-).by twinclouds - Debian
I tested mine. It is about 10MB/s.by twinclouds - Debian
Can you tell me if I can use it to spin down external hdd after some idle time, say 15 minutes? If I can how? Thanks.by twinclouds - Debian
I solved this problem and the results are posted here. Please let me know your comments.by twinclouds - Debian
I am recently interested in the lifespan of NAND memory used inside devices like Dockstar and in USB drives. My question is: For regular debian linux installation on USB drive as we are doing, does debian only do reading from the USB drive or also writing to the drive (besides swap space access)? A related question is if I want to install a read-only system, can I install on an external USB driby twinclouds - Debian
I thought this problem has already been resolved. Please see http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,454,499#msg-499. I think this is only happens on Squeeze. Lenny is fine.by twinclouds - uBoot
Actually. I installed Debian many times by choice because I would like to try to install different versions of it to see if there are any problems or improvement. The latest one I installed was the Squeeze version ....25 instead the one give in Jeff's script (.....23). There's really no problems to install multiple times.by twinclouds - Debian
I have successfully installed FreePBX/Asterisk on Dockstar with Google Voice integration based on PlugPBX board. I have been use it as home server for GV dial out for many weeks now. It is very reliable. It consumes little power and a dedicated PBX is really very desirable. Now considering my needs, installing full FreePBX is really overkill. I was thinking if it can simplified. Michael: You are welcome. Also thank you for yours and gorgone's help to make it work. After the first time, I don't need do modprobe again. It just worked even without ethernet cable connected. Please let me know what are the results with the new driver. If it does, please send me a copy if you can because I still have problem to compile it. I have been installing a number times on the same dockstar with different USB drives. I never had any problems.by twinclouds - Debian
Hi, Michael: I followed what you said and it works now. Previously, I first plugged in the adapter before doing modprobe. After than ifup wlan0 didn't detect the adapter. I don't know if I should always follow the steps as you described. In any case, it works perfectly now. Thanks for your help. I have uploaded the file I received from Realtek to rapidshare: http://rapidshare.com/by twinclouds - Debian
gorgone: It shows: ID 0bda:8176 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. Thanks. PS. I also got the driver zip file from Realtek. It may have a newer version (20100803) than the one I found on the web. I can send you if you are interested and tell me how to do so.by twinclouds - Debian
gorgone: Thanks. It looks like 8192cu.ko has been installed after make install. However, it still does not work. I guess I will need the firmware for 8192cu in /lib/firmware.by twinclouds - Debian
I download the file and try to make the driver. However, it said: "make ARCH=armv5tel CROSS_COMPILE= -C /lib/modules/2.6.35.7-dockstar/build M=/usr/src/rtl8192CU_linux_v2.0.939.20100726 modules make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.35.7-dockstar/build: No such file or directory. Stop" But actually, the file /lib/modules/2.6.35.7-dockstar/build is there. Not sure what happened. ls -l showby twinclouds - Debian
Thanks. I guess I need to compile it. Could you let me know which linux-headers package should I use?by twinclouds - Debian
I have a very small wifi usb adapter (AWLL5088). It is very cute and should be perfect for Dockstart on the side. I try to make it work for Dockstar but not successful so far. The chipset is RTL8188CUS. Does anybody know which driver and firmware should I use? Thanks in advance.by twinclouds - Debian
