Hello, Because I had with the USB WLAN adapter TR-Link WN321G about one disconnect per hour, I tried to find another model. So I came to a TP-Link WN721N. The USB ID is 0cf3:9271 Atheros Communications, Inc. AR9271 802.11n. Now I found out, that it needs the driver ath9k_htc, which is not include in kernel 2.6.32. Hello, I wanted to monitor the Link Quality of my WLAN connection, in order to optimize the antenna placement. Unfortunately the utility iwspy does not work with my WLAN adapter. Here is a good description about: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/howto-check-wireless-link-quality-in-ubuntu-linux.html Therefore I have written a shell script for monitoring and logging the Link Quality. Hello EWTUC, I also had a problem with an old WebCam, which was not able to deliver JPG compressed pictures, just raw image data. I figured that out with the utility uvccapture (Debian Squeeze package). Have a look also at http://www.embeddedlinuxprimer.com/sn9c20x That raw image data can be converted with the CPU to a JPG picture, but the CPU load is heavy. Regards, Rudolfby Rudolf - Debian
Hello twinclouds, I was not aware, that you use Debian Lenny. I recommend to switch to Squeeze, what I have. The zd1211 driver is already in the tree: root@FADS92:~# find / -name 'zd1211*' /lib/modules/2.6.32-5-kirkwood/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/zd1211rw/zd1211rw.ko /lib/modules/2.6.32-dockstar/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/zd1211rw/zd1211rw.ko /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.32-5by Rudolf - Debian
Hello twinclouds, As far as I understood, ifplugd is used only for switching between profiles of LAN access points. So I do not use it any longer. I hope my instructions are easy to understand and complete. If not, please do not hesitate to tell. http://www.rudiswiki.de/wiki/DockStarWLAN Regards, Rudolfby Rudolf - Debian
Hello, Finally I made it with the Debian package wicd. The automatic switching between LAN (cable) and WLAN (WiFi) works now automatic. For the installation details, please have a look at: http://www.rudiswiki.de/wiki/DockStarWLAN Regards, Rudolfby Rudolf - Debian
Hello ecc, Thank you for reporting about the package busybox-syslogd. I was not aware, that such a package exists. If rsyslog is too verbose, I will switch to busybox-syslogd. Regards, Rudolfby Rudolf - Debian
Hello Matt, Tank you for the hints, especially "It´s not done ;) " I have installed package rsyslog and watching it. I just have a concern about wearing the USB-Stick. Let's see. Regards, Rudolfby Rudolf - Debian
Hello, I want to use in Debian Squeeze the utility logger in a shell script, but it does not work. Also I found no file /var/log/syslog. I have seen 2 possible solutions: 1. busybox syslogd 2. Debian package syslog-ng But I have not found any installation directives. It should not conflict with /var/log/messages. I have seen in "ps-A" no klogd and syslogd by the way. Howby Rudolf - Debian
Hello ecc, OK, now I understood your intention. I want to have a similar application, but wlan0 included. Regards, Rudolfby Rudolf - Debian
Hello, I just figured out how to start wlan0 (WPA2 with wpasupplicant) after boot. ifup wlan0 # does work ifconfig wlan0 up # does NOT work But I did not figure out, were to change the boot setup, together with "ifplugd". Any help there, please? Regards, Rudolfby Rudolf - Debian
Hello ecc, Thank you for the hint. I had already done that, when using "ifplugd". My posting just showed the latest status, when I gave up on "ifplugd". Could you please show me your file /etc/default/ifplugd ? Regards, Rudolfby Rudolf - Debian
Hello, I have a problem in using eth0 and wlan0 together (Debian Squeeze). If I boot without LAN cable plugged in, no interface works. If I plug in the LAN cable, both interfaces work. I got the setup from: http://skillfulness.blogspot.com/2010/03/nslu2-debian-lenny-wireless-webcam.html I have also tried package ifplugd, but no success. Hello twinclouds, If it concerns the moin wiki, it has "Simplified_Chinese" and "Traditional_Chinese" language set on board. You can test that with the "Desktop Edition" in Windows and Linux. Just download the archiv http://static.moinmo.in/files/moin-1.8.8.tar.gz, unpack it (Python 2.5 or 2.6 must be installed). When you run wikiserver.py, a web server on http://by Rudolf - Debian
Hello Lou, The server application is the www.moinmo.in wiki (version 1.88) which has a web server included with small foot print. It is used as an application frontend for the five collected temperature data in form of a table, 5 hour diagram from gnuplot and a webcam picture. Specific data are read via Python macro, the diagram and webcam shot are just displayed. Just have a look at the rawby Rudolf - Debian
Hello, I have described the Debian Squeeze (DockStar kernel) installation on an USB-Stick with language localisation (German) and WebCam and 1-wire interface on http://www.rudiswiki.de/wiki/DockStarDebian . The Dockstar should take over the function of an old NSLU2 box running a temperature measuring application, see http://www.rudiswiki.de/wiki1/HeizungWebcam.
