Hi bodhi, does it also boot without General setup -> Embedded System -> Enable Patch physical to virtual translations at runtime -> Disable and setting PHYS_OFFSET to 0x00?by Vlad - Debian
LOL. In the meantime I even picked up another GF Net which will probably serve as an iSCSI NAS only. As far as Raspi is concerned, at least here in Europe is costs not simply 35$ but 35$ + VAT + shipping and at the end you have sth like 45-50€. If you compare this to 35-40€ for GF Net, I guess it's pretty clear what device one would pick as a server. Of course GF Net has no video card anby Vlad - Debian

Thanks, bodhi! I totally agree that it would be nice to have a regularly updated working Wheezy patch, especially when Wheezy will officially become stable. I know that some people here are working to get 3.5 and 3.6 kernels working, which is surely a good thing, but not also shouldn't forget about people who want to use older but more stable kernels. Hi guys, today I wanted to compile a 3.2 kernel from the wheezy repo (3.2.23-1 to be precise). So, as usual I grabbed a patch from here https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUILDs/blob/master/core/linux/archlinuxarm.patch and tried to apply it ... with little success. Somehow the patch seems to be quite outdated: still using boot_params instead of atag_offset, missing a lot of mach types,by Vlad - Debian
One more feedback. Today I bought a second brand new GoFlex Net (not hacked) and decided to unlock it via direct serial connection. After booting to that crippled Linux GF Net has, I downloaded and executed Jeff's U-Boot script. bash cd /tmp wget http://projects.doozan.com/uboot/install_uboot_mtd0.sh chmod +x install_uboot_mtd0.sh ./install_uboot_mtd0.sh Everything worked flawlby Vlad - uBoot
If you install mtd-utils apt-get install mtd-utils you can flash sth to NAND or update U-Boot using nandwrite. And if you want to change U-Boot environmental variables, you can install uboot-envtools apt-get install uboot-envtools and use fw_setenv and fw_printenvby Vlad - uBoot
I'm using a self-compiled 3.0.0 kernel but AFAIK also 3.2.4 and even some 2.6.x kernels work fine. My last kernel howto should be this one http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,6010 However, some parts of the howto are probably outdated. I guess that mv_cesa got fixed in newer kernel versions and the rootfs hack probably shouldn't be needed anymore. And to get the old kernel source debsby Vlad - Debian
In the end I yet decided to update U-Boot on my iConnect. Big thanks to pazos for providing his useful instructions. Here's what I did (from Debian): su apt-get install mtd-utils cd /tmp cat /proc/mtd Output: dev: size erasesize name mtd0: 00100000 00020000 "u-boot" mtd1: 00300000 00020000 "uImage" mtd2: 02000000 00020000 "rootfs" mtd3: 1dcby Vlad - Debian
I finally managed to update my GoFlex Net with UBIT v0.6 to the newer U-Boot version. You can find my experiences here http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,6965,9111#msg-9111by Vlad - Debian
One more thing. I noticed that after upadting to the latest U-Boot the kernel was obviously unable to mount rootfs correctly such that the system didn't boot. After connecting serial console and monitoring boot process directly, I immediately was able to recognize the problem Waiting 10sec before mounting root device... scsi 2:0:0:0: Direct-Access SanDisk Cruzer 7.01 PQ:by Vlad - uBoot
I finally had some free time and decided to update the bootloader on my GoFlex Net. Everything went fine, such that now I'm running "U-Boot 2011.12 (Apr 18 2012 - 23:08:20)". At this point I'd like to thank davygravy and Jeff for their efforts to patch U-Boot for newer kernels and provide an easy install procedure. Since this might be interesting to others, I'd like to deby Vlad - uBoot
Hi cyb, to start with, the last time I seriously tinkered around with my GF Net was probably still in 2011. I'm starting my PhD soon and currently workig hard to finish my thesis, such that I'm really not aware of all the development that happened around Marvell Kirkwood platform in 2012. I've never encourted that "Bad eraseblock" messages you're talking about,by Vlad - Debian
Taking into account how much valuable information on Dockstar/GoFlex/Pogo/iConnect etc. this forum contains, I believe it's a pity that all those writeups and howtos are not organized properly. So I was just thinking, if we could organize some kind of wiki open to the forum members where all the infos and guides can be posted and updated. Wow, I didn't know that you're that far already. If it's really about the kernel, I'd suggest that you simply take their kernel sourcres (linux-2.6.32 folder in synogpl-2198-6281.tbz) and apply a patch that adds GF Net support. You can find a patch for a 2.6.37 kernel on varkeys's homepage http://www.varkey.in/files/goflex-2.6.37.6-p1.patch and afair this should work wiby Vlad - Debian

The problem actually occurs only with UBIT v0.6. As soon as a SATA HDD is attached, the "setenv bootargs" is not honoured any more and UBIT always sets root=/dev/sda1 regardless of the setenv values. I might test u-boot 2011.12 if someone could provide a good howto on compiling, testing and reflashing the u-boot, but first I need to get a JTAG module to be prepared for the worst.by Vlad - Debian
To me it looks like the bootloader installed fine but the script failed when setting up rootfs. Which means that the device is not bricked. You just need to put a working rootfs with uImage and uInitrd on your thumb drive and GoFlex Net should boot.by Vlad - Debian

I'm not a CUPS expert but if the printer is not working properly with CUPS, it's pretty obvious that AirPrint won't work too. I never had any Canon printers so I can hardly give you an advice how to make it working. It's strange but IP5000 is not even listed in the OpenPrinting Database. No problem, I also appreciate your work on testing the new u-Boot. Just in case someone is interested: I got a self compiled linux-image-3.2.0-1-kirkwood_3.2.4-1 (Wheezy repo) working on my iOmega iConnect. For this I had to slightly modify the archlinuxarm.patch. Hmm, it seems that the Arch Linux ARM patch for the 3.1 kernel (which enables GoFlex and iConnect support) https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUILDs/blob/eb886eb2e8f5f88864afd69e041159584ebcd307/core/linux/archlinuxarm.patch is not compatible with 3.2.
