That sorted it thanks Bodhi. uboot load time is now around 5-10 seconds.by tbp - uBoot
Thanks for the feedback bodhi. I applied both of those commands from debian and rebooted. However, it still appears to be sitting there waiting for an nc response. I have checked both of the vars have been added/saved in uboot. How long should it be waiting there for now? Should uboot now be going straight through without an nc server ping check? Thank you Bodhi for the response, suggestion and explanation. I re-applied the commands you suggested, saved them and rebooted. I disconnected the network cable at the nc server and later retried with no network cable connected at the GoFlex, and the GoFlex remained blinking green LED for over 10 minutes (I gave up at that point). Am I missing something? Is there any permanent method for mby tbp - uBoot
Hi guys, bit of a weird problem. Thank you for the assistance recently in getting my GoFlex Home back online. Now that I have it nicely setup with Debian and a 4TB HDD I'm getting a long boot delay. If I have a machine setup listening at the NC IP, it boots straight through uboot (as I can see from the NC output) and is online within a minute or so. However, if the NC endpoint isnby tbp - uBoot
Positive development, after emptying the house for a while, I finally found a known good PSU with a compatible connector (and DC orientation). After booting with the replacement PSU with the new 3.5" HDD connected to the SATA port, no more hang/power problem. Appears DavidD was right. The alternate PSU only outputs 1.5A, which is way too low from the GoFlex power specs I've read,by tbp - uBoot

I wouldn't know what hanging looks like. Essentially: Power on device Green led begins flashing I hear drive begin to power up (around 10s later) I hear drive power down like its beingby tbp - uBoot
Agree bodhi, looks like a hdd initiialization issue to me. I did read there were some timing issues in the past. I did add the delay when setting up the envs on first setup. What should i be looking for on the SATA connector, physical damage? Please excause a newbie, which boot log for caddy usb, the nc output again?by tbp - uBoot
I did consider that, from the tech specs i could find the go flex home appears to be rated at 12v 2A and am currently using a 5A unit. Will have a dig around and see what i have with the correct connector. Thanks DDby tbp - uBoot
Resolution Summary Very old bad GoFlex power supply needed replacing. Appears to be a great community and knowledge base on this forum which has helped a lot over the last few weeks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The Issue As the GoFlex Home boots I get an intermittent green LED for a number of seconds, I hear the SATA disk begin to spin up, then the entire GoFlex device powerby tbp - uBoot
