Hi bodhi, thanx for your reply. After asking I realized myself the other devices I mentioned, where it is possible to drop into the bootloader from the OS command line, actually have a separate LOM (Lights Out Management) CPU that starts and keeps running the bootloader as soon as the power supply is active, regardless of the CPU the OS use and is booted upon. Such an example are SUN servers oby psychokiller - uBoot
Hi all, I was wondering if there is any way, while connected to serial console, for example on a Dockstar or a Zyxel NSA320/325, to leave the linux command line and drop to UBoot command line. On other machines with different bootloader, like OpenBoot, it is possible to use an escape sequence from the keyboard on the serial console, to drop to the boot loader and issue commands. Just an update from myself to those who might read this thread in the future... I tried to recompile squeezelite from sources with apt source and removing for support for IR and SSL, but nothing changed. I then cloned from Github the latest version (newer than the Arch Linux ARM one) and compiled it with the same options of the ALARM version: memory footprint is completely different.by psychokiller - Debian
Hi bodhi, I am not sure I am following you. Quotebodhi BFQ is a remedy for the OOM killer stepping in when there are large swap space. So if squeezelite is not triggering OOM by itself, then I would think you'll see a lot of disk thrashing (but still be able to log in and look at the system). BFQ should avoid OOM kiking in if I understand properly, and you suggest to monitor swap page uby psychokiller - Debian
Additional information... Arch Linux ARM squeezelite version is: Squeezelite v1.9.8-1344, Copyright 2012-2015 Adrian Smith, 2015-2021 Ralph Irving. See -t for license terms while on Debian it is: Squeezelite v1.9.8-1317, Copyright 2012-2015 Adrian Smith, 2015-2021 Ralph Irving. See -t for license termsby psychokiller - Debian
Hi bodhi! Yes, just tried removing systemd from set_bootargs and rebooted a couple of times, behaviour is the same. Hi all, I have lately migrated a few Dockstar(s) I used with Arch Linux ARM, most of them worked fine for the purpose they were intended, but one I wasn't able to migrate. The incriminated Dockstar was just installed with Arch Linux ARM and squeezelite, few utilities (lsusb/tmux/htop) but no other relevant services running, since it was used connected to a USB DAC and as a Logitech Mediaby psychokiller - Debian
Good, thanx for pointing that out. I knew about OpenWRT and was an avid user on Linksys routers but didn't remember it was OK to run on kirkwood. Paoloby psychokiller - Debian
Hi all! hope this is not off topic in the Debian forum: at the beginning of february Arch Linux ARM dropped support for armv5, so this is the last available distro to run on kirkwook devices (Dockstars, PogoPlugs, Zyxel NSA 320/325 and the like). I would like to thanx all the developers and contributors to this forum once more for keeping this things alive and our little plugs running. I hby psychokiller - Debian
Hi all, I am trying to revert to stock OS a Zyxel NSA320 that I flashed with new U-Boot and Debian. Unfortunately I do not have any backup, but managed to flash it with an original U-Boot from a dump that I got from an NSA325. I then tried to follow a guide found here ftp://ftp.zyxel.it/guide/nas/nsa320_recovery_firmware.pdf to restore kernel and rootfs using this package ftp://ftp.by psychokiller - uBoot
Hi! I read you have a stock NSA320, but probably you already flashed it with new U-Boot and Debian. If you haven't flashed it yet I am very interested in a dump of your nand to restore an NSA320 I have with stock firmware. I will PM you as well hoping you will read both this thread and PMs. Thanx, Paolo.by psychokiller - Debian
