Thanks again. Had a raspberry pi I was able to use to update my usb. Inserted the modified uEnv.txt in my boot did and got it working real quickly. Netconsole is working also.. All is well!by t3ch42 - uBoot
That is great news. Will get it up tomorrow. Glad to hear it is something simple. Was beginning to pull my hair out. Thanks again for the focus on the issue. Will post my success later to confirm.by t3ch42 - uBoot
Hi, Having issues with updating from the 2013 roots to the latest version. I attempted to update uboot to the 2017 version, but I believe I messed something up. Can someone with a little better knowledge let me know if I need to crack it open? I can boot the old rootfs from 2013 and the led goes green, but is not present on my network. I don't see a mac address, would this be an issue?by t3ch42 - uBoot
Thanks again. I found what I was looking for. Termux for Android has a package update system. Just was looking for the wrong program. Unfortunately, I might have mucked up my uboot, because is no longer responding through netcat and no longer boots on the network. I can get a solid green led, but it acts like it is not on the network. Will look again at my log to see what I did and see if I canby t3ch42 - Debian
Hey, glad to see you're still active in this forum and putting out new releases! Have been using an old release for many years now and still working great. However, needing to update and I don't have the same device I did years ago that had netconsole as a executable. I would like to make sure I have uboot access through it using netconsole. Is there a compatible android app or plugin fby t3ch42 - Debian
That's awesome to hear. Looking forward to giving it a go. Are you required to flash the old uboot for the pogo stock? If so, do you lose the option of booting Debian? I wouldn't think so. I will have to look into this. Thanks again for some good news.by t3ch42 - Rescue System
With my issues of late, I was wondering if there had been any progress or success with the pp v4. Looking at some of the listed variants, it seems to be enough room in the memory. Can anyone confirm a working rescue or "other" running from the nand?by t3ch42 - Rescue System
Whew. That's good to know. I looked at everything and removed the reference to booting the external file from the dts folder. I was able to get the plug to boot up on 3.16 again using the setenv rootfstype ext3. I thought I had wandered through that step, but I may have missed it... Anyhow, I set the variable and everything seemed to work out. I tested extensively, and that switch eithby t3ch42 - Debian
I've had some issues since I've updated to the newer uboot on my V4, and I'm not sure if it's a hardware problem or uboot environment variable problem. I used to be able to boot up since I updated the uboot, but it seems after a power outage that I am locked out. My netcat still works, and I can change variables, but I cannot communicate after any image supposedly boots. Iby t3ch42 - Debian
I searched for mention of this issue, but didn't see anything mentioning any problems with mounting through the usb3 connections. I had a roots failure and updated to the last release. February I believe. Has anyone had problems with no other disk being recognized? I've updated and upgraded, but fdisk doesn't pick up on any other disks. I've installed several times with differby t3ch42 - Debian
Well, webmin is helpful and would allow most of the configuration I would need to do, but I didn't see any way to automate the WiFi side. I haven't found a WiFi module for webmin yet. I found a thread that was a few years old by pazos that seemed pretty relevant. The problem I find is the initial setup. If there isn't a Ethernet cable connected, I don't have access. Hey guys. I'd had some luck with the WiFi setup in the past, but had issues with the WiFi dongle being independent of the Ethernet connection. Seems that the WiFi network interface would always piggyback on the Ethernet and wouldn't work too well without a wire connected too. I got a little frustrated and stopped working on it, but after rearranging my physical network, I had some moby t3ch42 - Debian
Whew. Glad that was easy. Will give it a try this evening. Its hard to stay on top of all aspects with all of the electronics I use; sometimes it seems I have just enough to get by. Thanks for the quick reply.by t3ch42 - uBoot
Hi, Updated my uboot and uboot env to the newest listed on the first page. I have a v4 and had not had any issues until I updated the env. I missed a few steps at the bottom in part 2, namely updating the mtdparts and rootfstype. So of course after rebooting, no boot. I didn't panic though. I built a rescue usb and booted and was able to correct the mtdparts env and rootfstype. Everythiby t3ch42 - uBoot

Well, as of today, it won't fail. I have USB WiFi devices plugged into the top usb and top usb3.0. I tried rebooting 8 times and no problems booting up each time. Weird. I look forward to testing your u-boot out. I was excited to hear about your results. Can your Mac address be reset to original value? Its not a major deal, but mine changes every time I boot up. Yes, you got the gist of my intent from the post. My apologies for being unclear. I assume that the issue is in the uboot for the occasional inability to recognize the card. Wasn't sure if it was a mmc vs sdhc issue, as some devices still don't like the sdhcs. I know that I have issues with my raspberry pi with power loss corrupting and bricking the SD cards for certain. Having small issues with a fresh series 4 I picked up from adorama. Nothing too bad, followed instructions that are linked to my user name on the boards and didn't have any issues changing the environment variables for the series 4(arc number and so on). What I trying to do is set up a wireless nas. I am using a ralink USB device, don't recall the model, but its one of the common chipsby t3ch42 - uBoot
I have been using davygravy's uboot with the /disk/by/label etc with mmc boot. I never had too much luck with that though. I set it with the labels, and during my initial setup, everything works OK. I'll see how things work out here shortly. Going through another fresh install. Update: couldn't post a new comment so just editing this one. It seems I had some junk in my fstab tby t3ch42 - uBoot
Hey guys. I have been very happy with my plug since I made the change to Debian, and have not had too many issues once I had it set up. Unfortunately, it seems that the system is very temperamental. My series 4 has had some issues since the last update was released a few weeks ago. I loaded it up the first time and it seemed to work well. I wanted to make a working backup that was tailoredby t3ch42 - uBoot
Thanks! That worked. Now to get the other hard drives to boot in order and consistently and I'll be happy. Will do more research into that aspect as well. Thanks again, T3ch42by t3ch42 - uBoot
In response to my own question, I proceeded as if I hadn't updated the uboot. I booted into debian, placed the flashing tools and kwb file in my tmp directory and went through the initial setup. Maybe not the cleanest, but it erased the mistakes I made. Just need to do a little more research into uboot I think.by t3ch42 - uBoot
Hi, with the help of bodhi and shv, I was able to get my pogoplug series 4 to flash the custom uboot. I was unable to boot with a second usb drive plugged in and attempted to change some of the usb_boot env and usb_root settings in uboot. I was hoping that someone might be able to help identify what command I would need to revert my env back to normal. I've tried, but I don't think tby t3ch42 - uBoot
@shv Is that a rootfs download or a patch? If you have a rootfs to try, I'll give it a shot. I modified the uboot to allow mmc boot and was able to boot the archlinux os from that, but no luck with the debian squeeze or wheezy so far.by t3ch42 - Debian
As an update, I found I needed to use the right network interface. I was using a bridge in windows, with two connections coming off to a ubuntu netbook and the pogoplug. After I isolated, I was able to use nc to talk to it. I was hesitant to change the machid and arcNumber in the uboot, as the command were different, but I think it probably would have worked had I used the save parameters comby t3ch42 - Debian
