When I search on internet about simillar problem. People often solve it by "recompiling device tree" -> http://forums.xilinx.com/t5/Embedded-Linux/Got-stuck-on-Calibrating-delay-loop/td-p/259874 . I see that this is something about the .dtb file that is describing the device for kernel. But I have no idea how to do it. Might that be relevant?by safarik - Debian
@bodhi Thanks for tip, but adding =serial does not change anything. It stops at "Calibrating delay loop...". @davidebg Yes I disabled CODA via menuconfig and after that (and applying bodhis patch correctly) it compiles with CodeBench and also with debian gcc (gcc-arm-none-eabi package). @bodhi, what does "tld" stands for? I cannot figure it out. :) Thanks, Tomasby safarik - Debian
So I can compile the kernel without problems now, but I got stuck when booting it. Does anyone have idea what do I have wrong? @bodhi you are right thank you. After applying the patch correctly it builds just fine. Tomasby safarik - Debian
@jfp Thanks for you part. I plan to boot from disks and LVM seem unnecessary complication for two physical and no option to add more. @davidedg Thanks for you verbose description it helped me to clear out how some of the things work. I hope I understand it correctly when I think that with correct kernel configuration I should be able to use /root system on RAID1 without initramfs (and mdadm) aby safarik - Debian
@bodhi I understand but I was unable to do it. Of course I might be doing something wrong. How it that you don not have problem with compiling CODA?by safarik - Debian

Doe any one know if there is a procedure how to build kirkwood (in my case NSA-325v2) kernel on debian with all the patches that Bodhi kernel has? I would like to build kernel with RAID1 support for root=/dev/md0 as I am unsuccessful to add RAID1 support via initrd. Thanks, Tomasby safarik - Debian

Hi, few findings. Maybe you have some knowledge about it. I tried booting debian wheezy kirkwood/netboot/marvell/openrd/ image and it boots to debian installer fine after setting U-boot variable machid to 690 (Marvell DB-88F6281-BP Development Board). Apparently arcNumber is not used anymore. Also if machid is not set linux kernel detects machine ID automatically correctly (0x0000118f for mby safarik - uBoot
@bodhi, I successfully updated the U-boot in my NSA-325v2 so I can firther experiment with kernels and debian installation. @Bodhi, I will try it then. Is there a list of features your kernel patch includes fo NSA325 devices? I have one more question - booting your debian rootfs from USB (which I intend to use for updating the U-boot) shows me following bad blocks. However I don't know if it is safe to flash (if they are in the U-boot area - if I understand it)? ... [ 4.865759] nand: device found, Maby safarik - uBoot
Bodhi, thank you very much, so I will try to update. Why I thought that booting mainline Debian kernel could be possible is because when you don't have arcNumber set the kernel gives you list of supported platforms. Your kernel listed: ID (hex) NAME 0000089b LaCie d2 Network v2 0000089e LaCie 5Big Network v2 0000089c LaCie 2Big Network v2 00000b44by safarik - uBoot
Bodhi, my question was if I need to update from current version? As I am unable to find any feature list of U-Boot 1.1.4. The update is risky process from my point of view as I do not completely understand what am I doing and how stable is the uboot.2013.10-tld-1. And maybe another question (as I do not understand FDT features) is that if it could maybe be able to boot default debian kerby safarik - uBoot
