Will rt2800usb work? It is already available in 2.6.35.4.by twinclouds - Debian
Eventually, I made my wifi USB dongle work reliably... on Lenny. Once you use Lenny instead Squeeze, it is just so simply. You don't need any tricks and additional programs/utilities, and etc. Actually, the zd1211 module is already included in the kernel later than 2.6.34. You just need to do a depmod to let the modules.dep recognize where it is. I will update my installation proceduresby twinclouds - Debian
Hi, Rudolf: Thanks. I actually have both. However, from what aerotoad said, it looks like Lenny can boot to start wlan0 directly without much change. I wish Squeeze can do the same. Can someone bring this to the Squeeze development community for looking into?by twinclouds - Debian

Rudolf: Thank you for sharing your findings. I will try wicd tonight and let you know if it works out or with more questions. One question for now: When you using wicd, do you use ifplugd also?by twinclouds - Debian
The wireless connection works fine if I start it manually with wired ethernet connected. However, without ethernect connection, it won't start, even if I put a line in rc.local of "ifup wlan0". This defeats the whole purpose. Does anybody have any suggestions? What should I change as described? Thanks in advance for help. PS. Looks like Rudolf was in the same situation. I found an Airlink+ USB-WiFi dongle, which uses the ZyDAS 1211 chip. Based on many people's directions in posts of this thread and the information from aerotoad in (http://plugapps.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=189&p=1929&e=1929), as well as, from Rudolf's website (http://www.rudiswiki.de/wiki/DockStarWLAN?highlight=%28\bCategoryDockStar\b%29), I have successfully enableby twinclouds - Debian

Are you using the same Dockstar to install and run debian?by twinclouds - Debian
It is an old posting and I don't know if you still need the answer. I installed Asterisk/FreePBX on Squeeze with no problem. Please let me know if you need help still.by twinclouds - Debian

I have set up a FreePBX/Asterisk voip server on Lenny. It can also be done using Squeeze but seems Lenny uses less resources. It works very well and stable as a GV-Sipgate PBX for dial out. It can be used for other voip services as well but I don't need it right now. I am also using another Dockstar as my (simple) home web server and it works fine. After installing Jeff's new uboot-mtd0 (http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,435), I never had any problem to boot to usb drive. I have tried at least 6 different usb drives including microSD cards with adapters and never had any problem with either one.by twinclouds - Debian

When I got a new device and disabled the auto update feature (first pulling out WAN cable then editing the rcS init file), this was what exactly (should) happen. This just meant that the device tried but failed logged into Pogo service. However, I can always find its IP address by using nmap or looking into the router network set up. In this case, I could log into it through ssh. If you cannoby twinclouds - Debian
It seems to me that Lenny automatically activated swap space. I never checked Squeeze until reading the post. Sure enough, it showing swap space zero. I followed ecc's fix and it works fine now. May be Jeff could modify the script to activate swap during installation?by twinclouds - Debian
Rundolf: Thanks. After I installed and configured it, the main text become non-English (German?) Don't know why. I thought the default was selected as US English but I can check again.by twinclouds - Debian
Does arm Debian has any Chinese support? The web-server works fine on Dockstar but cannot handle Chinese characters.by twinclouds - Debian

What I want to do is to give the image to someone else. I don't want to fix it for everyone.by twinclouds - Debian
I guess the reason, as Jeff said in one of his postings, is that in Squeeze, the MAC address is checked every time. Once it sees a new MAC, it will be assigned the new port to eth1. Since eth1 is not used, there's no way to communicate to it. There are a few remedies that I found by Googling. Let me try to see if it can be fixed.by twinclouds - Debian
I have tried Lenny and Squeeze both. The advantage of Lenny is that once I compiled it, I can use the image on multiple Dockstars with no problem. For Squeeze, I compiled one on one Dockstar and it works fine. However, I couldn't use the image on another Dockstar. It looks like that the device is booting but I cannot access it. Even pinging it does not work. I don't know if otherby twinclouds - Debian
Have you tested this one on Lenny as well? Squeeze seems having some problems on two of my Dockstars but not on the other one. (Yes, I have three in commission. :-) I will test more and report to see if anyone else also have the same problem.by twinclouds - Debian
Yes. It works very well. Thanks.by twinclouds - Debian
I have installed Squeeze Debian using Jeff's scripts. If I want to upgrade to is new kernel, all I need to do is to log into the Squeeze Debian as root and do the wget and dpkg commands? It must be a stupid question for many of you and sorry about that :-).by twinclouds - Debian
Thanks. Not sure if I have adapter with the ZyDAS chipset. I will take a look.by twinclouds - Debian
I have installed Debian on my Dockstar and it worked very well. Right now it is connected to my home wired network (ethernet). I am just wondering if it is possible to connect it to a WiFi network using an USB WiFi adapter. If yes, what are the steps I should follow? Appreciate your help.by twinclouds - Debian
It is actually very simple. First you need to boot into the native Pogoplug OS by disconnecting the USB Drive. Here I am assuming you are already using Jeff's mtd0 bootloader. Then you can use fw_ comments. To set led to be constant green at exit, the format is (without quotation marks) "fw_setenv led_exit green on". In the same way, you can set other led status and color.by twinclouds - uBoot
