QuoteHenrik Nordström there is no "single SPL that fits all" That is quite depressing to hear. I thought about that quite a while. I find it quite difficult to believe that every different device needs a custom uboot version. All A10 devices use the same SoC. The device customizations should be done in script bin. I have the 3.0.42 kernel built and working very well now. The multi-boot u-boot is improved from the previous version with Linux on NAND support. I still have the last set of SD images. Those were only posted at a10linux last week, and have the bugs ironed out in them (unfortunately not as a result of any bug reports from the community). It takes no time to update the images and post them here. Wby gnexus - Allwinner A10

According to the maintainer of the sunxi uboot it is not possible to reliably boot from all devices using the SD card unless you have an uboot specifically made for each device. That would require a specific Linux SD image for each device. That is not a realistic scenario. So what we need is an installer script that installs the uboot to NAND. No dd commands are needed. Very sorry about that. I know people still need SD images. I don't want to see anybody stuck out due to petty squabbles. I will update the images with the 3.0.42 kernel and latest multi-boot uboot and post them here if that is okay with Jeff. The latest kernel is done. Contrary to what guillame may assume I still plan to contribute to the platform. I actually have a lot more time to do that now that the a10linux site has closed. A10 really needs an initramfs. That is the only way to do multi-boot on Allwinner SoCs. The crappy default u-boot has no support for booting other devices such as SATA, USB or network devices. That support should have been included by Allwinner. We should at least have PHY support for netconsole, if nothing else. Marvell has support for all these devices in their uboot. Thanks for the info! My main personal goals were to have a tablet that could support alternate OS than Android - like Meego/Mer or Tizen, and to have an low-power device that can function as a MythTV frontend. Thank you for this post Ian. Probably the biggest regret for me when Kevin deleted the a10linux VPS was losing the nand boot tutorial I made.
