I guess the uboot is the only thing matters as wol should only react to it. I use the davy's instructions. Both hdd and usb with bodhi's 3.8.11 kernel work great for me.by syong - Debian
@bodhi, Yes, I dump from a running rootfs. Dump/restore is the traditional way to backup in UNIX. It should work for ext2/3/4. I use ext3 rootfs myself. Here is my script to backup/transfer a rootfs. http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,12968by syong - Debian
I use it to backup my rootfs on a 2G USB stick and transfer my rootfs to a NSA320 from POGO E02. (%3)(21:40)(punk)~> sudo cat /root/bin/dumpdisk #!/bin/sh if [ $# -ne 1 -a $# -ne 2 ] || [ ! -b $1 ]; then echo "`basename $0` <destination(e.g. /dev/sdc)> " else _T=ext3 umount ${1}1 echo "`basename $0` on `date '+%Y_%m_%dby syong - Debian
I use wakeonlan too and it works for me. wakeonlan -i 192.168.0.255 fc:f5:28:08:a8:a4by syong - Debian
I did not use cron to backup rootfs. I guess the problem might be the env, e.g., chroot for the cron job? I used rsync a while ago, now I use dump/restore to backup my rootfs. It works great but I have not do it in cron since I do not want such a serious matter happens behind my back:)by syong - Debian
I use Zyxel NSA 320 wake on lan without doing anything to activate it.by syong - Debian
Bodhi, I have tried your uBoot image. I can not get NSA320 network initialized with this uBoot. Here is the output: (%5)(07:42)(pis)/mnt/tftp> ./kwboot -t -B 115200 /dev/ttyUSB0 -b uboot.2013.07.goflexnet.mtd0.kwb -p Sending boot message. Bodhi, Seems UART booting working right here now. Where is your Goflex Net uBoot build and what is the Netconsole problem?by syong - Debian
Bodhi, Thanks for the link. Will try. So the motivation for UART booting is to test uBoot before committing to NAND?by syong - Debian
Bodhi, Never tried. How to do that?by syong - Debian
Bodhi, I use Davy's uBoot. Here is the output of the netconsole: U-Boot 2011.12 (May 03 2012 - 17:04:23) ZyXEL NSA320 2-Bay Power Media Server arm-none-linux-gnueabi-gcc (Sourcery G++ Lite 2009q3-67) 4.4.1 GNU ld (Sourcery G++ Lite 2009q3-67) 2.19.51.20090709 Hit any key to stop autoboot: 9 NSA320>by syong - Debian
Bodhi, Yes, that is what I did.by syong - Off-Topic
bodhi, Besides pogo e02, NSA320 is the only other kirkwood device I have. Do not know NSA310. Here is what I think of e02 comparing with NSA320. e02 is more compact although NSA320 is compact enough. No power brick and consumes less energy(5w vs 18w). Also needs no fan, totally quiet. NSA320 has more features. It has RTC and eSATA and more leds and buttons. It also has temp sensors but nby syong - Debian
bodhi, Great! Need your patches as I just got a nsa320. Installed davy's kernel. Everything works except temp sensor. The sensor works at the beginning, but jumps to 102C after a while.by syong - Debian
Thanks bodhi. That will be useful to many people. But I can not find your patches for Kernel 3.8.11 package version 2.by syong - Debian
bodhi, samba is to windows as nfs is to *nix. I use both on my boxes. nfs might be a better choice if you want to use cp. What makes the box used for building kernel different from the others?by syong - Debian
bodhi, I do not use smbnetfs. But I guess that is because file system dismatch.by syong - Debian
bodhi, When you have time, these two tips might help: Solder to the pin on the other side of the board. This will keep the onboard connector intact. Use USB shield as GND will make wiring and soldering a bit easier.by syong - Off-Topic
@bodhi, If it is too lose, you might want to put some solder on the pin to make it fit. But to my opinion, it is best to put a phone jack on your device. I just fix one on each of my embedded device for easy serial connection. The motivation came from here: http://oneitguy.com/blog/adding-serial-port-pogoplug-v2-e02-gray I got my jacks from here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/35054035353by syong - Off-Topic

Go simple by directly connecting 3.3v serial ports with a cross over cable.by syong - Off-Topic
Thank you Bodhi.by syong - Debian
Kernel 3.8.x may worth a try. Do you notice any effects of the error?by syong - Debian
If it is hush parser, you should see the problem on the serial console too.by syong - uBoot
Bodhi, I am using swap file on both USB(32M, priority 0) and HDD(512M, priority -1). I also set some parameters to save the USB flash by the following which I found somewhere online: (%16)(21:56)(punk)~> cat /etc/init.d/kernel-params #! /bin/sh ### BEGIN INIT INFO # Provides: kernel-params # Required-Start: # Required-Stop: # Should-Start: # Should-Stop: # Default-Start:by syong - Debian

@bodhi, I found e02 is officially supported by uboot and Davy is the maintainer. He cleaned the env a bit and there is reset_phy() function might be relevant to the netconsole problem. I just got a buspirate but have not play it yet. What kind of jtag cable do you use to test uboot?by syong - uBoot
@bodhi, Can we call it trace of hacking? :)by syong - uBoot
