Thanks, bodhi. The header file is really informative! Here is what I found in Jeff's patch to e02 in mach-pinkpogo.patch: + /* Zero the first bit at 0x800000 to clear any old image still in RAM after a warm reboot */\ + "usb_load_uimage=mw 0x800000 0 1; ext2load usb $usb_device 0x800000 /boot/uImage\0"\ However, my question still remains: does the following ext2load sby syong - uBoot
Thanks. As a uboot newbie, I am still wondering why only clean 4 bytes starting at 0x800000? How does this relate to warm start?by syong - uBoot
@bodhi, You are right. I vaguely remembered failed to load new boot to RAM when I used the old uboot.by syong - uBoot
With my e02 beside me, I have tested the new uboot. Here is my finding: Loading uboot to 0x800000 works, to 0x600000 failed. I have succeeded without `mw 0x800000 0 1'. Is it a test? tftp works as well as usb load. To stop counting down in netconsole, the return key works as well as C-j.by syong - uBoot
bodhi, With faith in luck, I flashed davy's e02 new version right away to NAND.by syong - uBoot
On my e02, I confirmed that uboot output its log to either netconsole or serial console: First to serial console: U-Boot 2011.12 (Jun 08 2012 - 11:41:39) Pogoplug E02 SoC: Kirkwood 88F6281_A0 DRAM: 256 MiB WARNING: Caches not enabled NAND: 128 MiB In: serial Out: serial Err: serial Net: egiga0 88E1116 Initialized on egiga0 Using egiga0 device host ... is alive Tby syong - uBoot
@davygravy, Could you please help bodhi by posting your patch for uboot?by syong - Debian
You may need a fsck on your rootfs. If that does not work, setup up a serial console and see what kernel is doing there.by syong - Debian
@restamp, You are welcome. Thank you for the information about smartctl. I guess the out of safe zoom flying of the head is mainly caused by the wearing of the rotor in the hdd? All these are new to me, please pardon me if my understanding seems too naive.by syong - Debian
Just a reporting that I succeed in changing idle time on my hdd by: (%8)(23:51)(punk)~/ws> sudo hdparm -S 255 /dev/sdb /dev/sdb: setting standby to 255 (21 minutes + 15 seconds) HDIO_DRIVE_CMD(setidle) failed: Invalid argument (%8)(23:52)(punk)~/ws> There is a error which I guess is from trying to spin down the drive. However, the idle time is changed accordingly tested by myby syong - Debian
@restamp, The Load_Cycle_Count on yours looks really low comparing with Power_On_Hours. Have you changed idle time on it? I did not do anything on mine. Here is more details: (%8)(07:55)(punk)~> sudo smartctl -a /dev/sdb | grep 'Device Model\|Power_On\|Power_Cycle\|High_Fly\|Power-Off\|Load_Cycle' Device Model: ST2000DL004 HDby syong - Debian
I used a Seagate ST2000DL004/Samsung HD204UI 2T hdd with a Transcend JetFlash 2G usb. The hdd spins down after idling around 15min. Here is the stats: (%8)(00:10)(punk)~> sudo smartctl -a /dev/sdb | grep 'Load_Cycle\|Power_On_Hours' 9 Power_On_Hours 0x0032 100 100 000by syong - Debian
Good to know. Thanks go to the forum which also contains information on how to make led work on your e02.by syong - Debian
Yes, do this from another device with the tools available. Forget about "rescueme" file.by syong - Debian

pogoomane, You are one step away from the debian wonderland. See http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,12006,12036#msg-12036by syong - Debian
bodhi, FYI, I just did a native compile with your kernel patch on 3.6.11 kernel. The build worked fine. Here is the time it took: real 406m3.601s user 325m43.260s sys 29m15.030s I got a LZMA kernel by replacing 256M swap partition with a 32M swap file on usb and a 512M swap file on nfs. bodhi, Two observations about your kernel and .config: No need to tar and zip the only kernel deb file, as it actually increases its size a little. No need to post the .config, as it already in the kernel deb file. Also thank you for your patch which I tried to understand. bodhi, I just tried your kernel on my e02. Here is my luck: `reboot' does not work; led keeps green. `shutdown -h now' works; led turns off. It seems that power management for e02 in the kernel is broken between 3.2.30 and 3.6.11. Do you know why davygravy stopped at 3.3? The reason I asked to tried your kernel is that the K07halt in your system is K10halt in mine. Seeby syong - Debian
bodhi, FYI, I just did a native compile with your kernel patch on 3.2.30 kernel. The build worked fine and solved the problem of almost 1min delay when mounting a 2T ext4 drive.by syong - Debian
Yes, that should not be the remedy for rebooting issue. If you post the 3.6.x kernel, I can test it on my e02.by syong - Debian
