The simpliest way is to use a serial cable and set the arcNumber back. If you already have set up netcat you can use it instead of a serial cable! Next step is to compile the rescue system for yourself and install it. (Not an easy task but can be done. I am not an experienced linux freak and made it work!) My version works with 2998! This is because the original rescue system from Jeff only knows about the sheeva arcNumber and not about others. The rescue system itself is a little bit old from a time where the dockstar had no own arcNumber but used the one from sheeva. I do not know why Jeff has abandoned it. All my posts regarding this have been ignored. Because I was so annoyed about the problems caused of this (havby Riffer - uBoot
Finally I had success! Now the dockstar starts up with LED working under kernel 2.6.35.9 with arcNumber 2998. For others who want to build their own rescue image I post a short description and a new build-dockstar-archive for buildroot-2010.11 maybe tomorrow after having some tests. There have been some changes to the files Jeff supported but my job is completly based on his work. Hope allby Riffer - Rescue System

In http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,1893 Jeff tells 2998 is the right number? ifconfig eth0:2 192.168.1.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255 up then ifconfig eth0:2 192.168.0.2 netby Riffer - Rescue System
Thanks for your answer! So you think it is not a good advice to install the recovery (as a replacement for the - in my case - useless) pogoplug software? In my understanding it is and so I installed it. Already flashed the recovery again but with no success. It does not boot really. After blinking orange (or yellow?) the led turns off. Hello! I have debian squeeze running from the dock hd on the dockstar. Two weeks ago I installed the rescue system. Had a test that it really worked. But now it does not. After shutdown the dockstar with "halt -p" after the lights go off on hd I pull it out and restart the dockstar by pull and plugging the power cable. By my understanding now the rescue should boot up and gby Riffer - Rescue System

Ok - forget this question - the answer is yes. I followed again the documents and now it works. Even the rescue is installed. Thanks to Jeff for his great job!by Riffer - Debian
Simple question short:# Can I install debian directly on a harddisk (preferred on the desk star HDD in the docking bay of my dockstar) AND boot from there? The question may be weird but I have done the installation already 2 times but the dockstar does not boot from my hard disk or seems to. signs of Rifferby Riffer - Debian
