Ok, so is it possible to configure hd-idle for working just for 1 hdd? So I can prevent the unnecessary spin downs of the root hdd.by Ultrazauberer - Debian
After 6 months my usb stick is bricked and so I switched to the 2.5" HDD. But now the HDD won't idle because (I think so) some processes are writing to the disk. So the disk is spinning up and down. I deactivated the samba and the hd-idle logging. But how can I find out which processes are writing to the disk? Thanks!by Ultrazauberer - Debian
No idea what happen, but after 2 reboots the dockstar is working fine again with hd-idle! Very nice! Edit: Should I mount all USB devices with autofs like in your tutorial? Normally I create some folders in /mnt/ and let the devices mounted by the fstab (with UUIDs). I have attached 1 USB stick (boot stick with debian), 1 Seagate Freeagent Go and 1 2TB external Harddrive. But now I only mouby Ultrazauberer - Debian

Hello, today I attached my new 3,5" HDD to the Dockstar. I want to suspend the disk in idle, but sdparm, hdparm and sg3-utils doesn't work. I have this HDD: CnMemory Core 3,5" 2TB HDD Is there a way to poweroff the HDD? I think about a workaround: when I'm pulling off the USB cable the HDD is going in standby. Temporarily I'm using lftp. It works great but the browsing is horrible. I have just the command line an ls is showing all details in one huge list. I have to use the pipe and more, then it became reliable.by Ultrazauberer - Debian
You can do this with cron. apt-get install cron See the help or man pages for more information.by Ultrazauberer - Debian
Hello everyone. I'm using the debian installation that came with Jeff's script. I need a blowfish encryption for irssi, so I searched the web. I have found 3 tools: the original fish plugin (can't build that on an ARM architecture), blowjob (official script from www.irssi.org - strange name ^^) and blowssi (0.1.0 currently running on my machine, but I want 0.2.0 with new featureby Ultrazauberer - Debian
Why you aren't use the serial port? With the serial port and a microcontroller you can really have fun. I think the most robotic projects are using a serial interface.by Ultrazauberer - Debian
Hello again! I'm trying to install a terminal based FTP client on the Dockstar with TLS-AUTH support and ASCII-gui. The only programm I know is pftp. But since there are no packages in the repositories (or I can't find them). Thanks for your tip with the rescue system! It boot proberly on my working dockstar and also on the broken one (I think so, because the booting duration is much longer than without usb stick). Ok, thanks for the advices: - last year I made a copy of my working debian system by taring the whole root drive to an external hdd - today I untared this file (with no errors, as root user from an ubuntu live cd) on a newly ext2 formatted usb stick (first partition 3,4GB bootable ext2, second partition 256MB swap) - I set the boot flag - I putted the usb stick into the first usb port on theby Ultrazauberer - Rescue System
Thanks for your hints! I have a really strange problem: I have a working dockstar here with no rescue system and a working usb stick. This stick wont work on my other dockstar which have the old rescue system. Also my backup from this system won't run from usb. This is really strange! Does anybody have some ideas why this happen? Thanks for that information. In the I will be back at home and can install the new rescue system because I have a working USB stick at home. Hi everyone! Yesterday my dockstar stopped working after a reboot. So today I started to install a new debian with Jeff's script. I think I installed before the rescue system v1 (first available here in the forum... about 4 months ago). So I want to install debian to a new 4GB USB stick (3,6GB ext2, 256MB swap). I think something in the script fails. It can't create a folder. Hby Ultrazauberer - Rescue System

Here's the solution: simply add the /usr/sbin to the $PATH variable: debian:~$ PATH=$PATH:/usr/sbin debian:~$ $PATH -bash: /usr/bin:/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin: No such file or directory apt-get upgrade is currently running :)by Ultrazauberer - Debian

I want to ask you, if you have any problems with the internal NAND flash of the Dockstar. In an other German forum I read that someone has also troubles with the bootloader. I wouldn't care about, but he wrotes that it happens suddenly. I had a similar problem and can't boot into the Pogoplug from now of then. So I installed the rescue system. You've installed Debian on a SD card? Than simply connect into the SD card with a working PC supporting your filesystem and edit the /etc/network/interfaces.conf (I'm not sure about the correct filename, simply look ahead and "autotabbing" through the directories) and set a static IP. Hope it's working for you.by Ultrazauberer - Debian
