They still work pretty well for me as home Asterisk PBX servers. I am using them for my VOIP telephone system with the VOIP providers BulkVS and viop.ms. I even recently upgraded them to Debian 12 (Bookworm) with Kernel 6.12.6 provided by Bodhi and installed Asterisk 16.29.1. Everything works fine and reliably.by twinclouds - Off-Topic
Hi, bodhi: Thanks for your reply. I was retired in 2012 but did some consulting work afterwards. In 2021, I stopped doing any consulting work and entered "full retirement". Even though I passed my 80 years birthday last year, my mind seems still fine. That is one reason I doing something technical as hobby to keep it this way! I noticed 6.11.6 and 6.12.6's Initrd sizes are geby twinclouds - Debian
Hi, Bodhi: Long time on contact. How are you doing? Recently, I tried to update of my Dockstars that are still running Debian 9, Kernel 4.18 and with 2017 uboot, (maybe because of the boredom in my retirement :-)) I downloaded your latest rootfs, flashed it into a USB drive and plugged it into one of my Dockstars. However, it didn't boot (or it booted but I cannot SSH into it). Then I uby twinclouds - Debian
I did more testing on this subject. Ping google.com does not work without disabling ipv6 on all of them ARM Debian based boxes, including Raspberry Pi, Orange Pi and Pogo Mobile running Ubuntu and Debian. It works on VMware based X86 Debian. It also works on Raspberry Pi with CentOS. So the problem looks like the combination of ARM and Debian.by twinclouds - Debian
But if I use a PC with W10 on the same local net, thus the same DNS server, it can ping google.com just fine. Ubuntu on VMWare is also fine.by twinclouds - Debian
Thanks. How did you solve this problem?by twinclouds - Debian
I don't know when did this start but I just notice I cannot do apt update any more. It always hung there. Then I tried to ping Google.com to test. It also hung there. I noticed that it uses ipv6 address and get no response. (shown below) After I disabled ipv6, it works fine. I am using debian on Pogoplug mobile/Debian 9.8. It has always been very reliable. I am not sure what happened.by twinclouds - Debian
Thanks. Mine works fine now after reading bodhi's reply. One strange thing is that I found the 2017.07 u-boot is sensitive to the quality/speed of the SD card. The 2014.07 version is much more tolerant. I don't know if this is true or just my imagination.by twinclouds - Debian
Sorry. Obviously, I ignored the second part.by twinclouds - Debian
Hi, Bodhi: Thank you very much for your recent help. The Pogo Mobile works fine now. I just have a question about the dtb file. I set the env item todtb_file=/boot/dts/kirkwood-pogoplug_v4.dtb but there is no such file. Do I need to have a file there? If I do where should I get the file?by twinclouds - Debian
Hi, Bodhi: With your help, eventually I made it work. Basically, I formatted USB drive to have ext4 file system with label rootfs. A better drive certainly also helped. I generated a tarball of Debian 9.5 with your kernel 4.18.4. If you are interested I can upload it. Thanks again for your helpby twinclouds - Debian
That's all I did. Still does not look good. I will try to use a better drive to see what happens and let you know. Thank you very much for your help. Good night!by twinclouds - Debian
O.K. Here is the complete log.by twinclouds - Debian
Bodhi: The first part does not have errors so it is the same as the good one. I can generate another full one for you soon. Thanks for your help.by twinclouds - Debian
Hi, Bodhi: I connected the serial cable and got a lot of errors with the 4.12 rootfs. I have attached the print out of the boot process with errors. If you you have time, please take a look. I have tried different USB drives so it should not be drives' problem The situation is, if I use a usb drive contains Wheezy installation and put the 4.12 rootfs on top of it, everything works fineby twinclouds - Debian
I changed the .dtb file env items. The LED now looks normal. It started with flash green, then become steady yellow and then become steady green. Looks like it boots fine but there's no Ethernet connection. I have never used netconsole. I will probably need to dug out the serial cable. I have bought a couple of FT232RL FTDI Basic USB to serial interface boards for connecting with Arduiby twinclouds - Debian
I just flashed you 2017 uboot version yesterday. The fw_printenv output is attached. Can you see anything wrong?by twinclouds - Debian
Thank you for your reply. You said: "This is not the right way. The Debian-4.12.1-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2 rootfs should be extracted onto an empty drive. " That was I thought and I did that. However, I cannot communicate with the Dockstar with the new rootfs through SSH. Nothing was shown on the local network. Do I need to do anything besides flashing drive and plug itby twinclouds - Debian
Hi, Bodhi: I haven't touch my Dockstars and Pogo Mobile Debian implementations for some time but they have been working flawlessly for many years. They are still my main work houses for VOIP. Recently, Google Voice has made significant changes so the old implementations do not work anymore. Fortunately, naf at VOIP Tech Chat Forum figure out a way to support the new protocol "gvsip&by twinclouds - Debian

Thanks. But it's no longer available at this price. Actually, I think you can also get OPi at less than $10.by twinclouds - Off-Topic
Any advantage over OrangePi varieties?by twinclouds - Off-Topic
Sorry. It should be Dockstar. :-)by twinclouds - Off-Topic
I agree with your opinion in general. However, for using plain Asterisk (I never really need or like FreePBX or other GUI versions of Asterisk) with no more than 3-4 simultaneous calls, i.e., for home use, I think Pogo or Dockstar should do fine.by twinclouds - Off-Topic
If it works, why not recommended? Any reason you can share?by twinclouds - Off-Topic
Budhi: This one can be used as the bare bone implementation that I had in mind. It can replace or as to supplement the Asterisk part of your Wiki. It uses Asterisk 11 but the configure files will work for Asterisk 13 as well.by twinclouds - Off-Topic
Bodhi: Thank you for your effort on this board. Sorry I have not been active on this board for some time. There are a lot of progress in Asterisk and Google Voice area. May it's time write a couple of new how-to's. I am thinking about first to write a bare-bone style how-to on setup a Asterisk-13 server for Google Voice. Then a follow up on how to implement Oauth-2.0 based on otheby twinclouds - Off-Topic
