I always forget about scp - thanks for reminding me. But as I want to move the files, rsync via ssh should work perfectly. Thanks, Rainerby rkrug - Debian
Thanks - very useful tips. I have a pogoplug E02 which I use only as an ftp server, and I am not running anything else on it. I followed https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial/proftpd-installation-on-debian-and-ubuntu/ to set it up. Also, it is not running permanently as I know more or less when it is needed. I assume exporting the ftp directory via NFS and than accessing it locally viaby rkrug - Debian

Hi I want to eliminate a 250 GB hdd from my setup and I thought of using a usb stick instead. The usage is mainly read (music collection) so I don't think that wear is an issue. Also, speed is not that relevant. I am doing daily backups to a hdd, so even if it fails, it is no major problem. Can somebody suggest any in-expensive 256 GB usb stick (or even SD card?) which I could useby rkrug - Off-Topic
Hi I installed the debian rootfs but I have one problem due to my setup. The Pogoplug is connected to a router which is not permanently on. And when I switch on the pogoplug, eth is not connected and I have no way of shutting it down cleanly as eth is down. Is there a way of automatically trying to reconnect eth0 if no connection is there until a certain timeout (e.g. 3 minutes) and aftby rkrug - Debian
I don't want be nitpicking, but the available cards are all SD - and not micro sd. Which is why I didn't find any micro sd 512GB. Cheers, Rainerby rkrug - Off-Topic
Hi I want to setup an FTP server on my pogoplug E02 (Debian, nothing else on that pogoplug), but I want it to be accessible from the outside, i.e. internet. The usage scenario is that certain websites can push files to the ftp server (my pogoplug) (instead of downloading the files) and I will move them from the pogoplug to my computer and do use them there. This is in principal no problemby rkrug - Debian
Also: as far as I know, the largest Micro SD is 128 GB.by rkrug - Off-Topic

So I can download the deb for wheezy from https://packages.debian.org/wheezy/armel/netatalk/download and it install it on Jessie? Or would this only be working on an upgrade? I want to install it on a new rootfs.by rkrug - Debian
I installed bodhi's rootfs which contains Debian Jessie. Now I realised that netatalk isn't available for Jessie. Has somebody compiled it and could give me a deb or give me some howto how I can compile it myself? I only need it for use=ing the pogoiplug as a Time Machine from the mac - everything else is via SAMBA. Thanks, Rainerby rkrug - Debian
Hi Several years ago, I installed Debian on a Pogoplug E02 using Jeff's tutorial from http://projects.doozan.com/debian/ . It is still running nicely, but I really would like to have the LED working correctly. Now I have installed bodhi's rootfs on another pogoplug and the LEDs are working there perfectly. I remember something about scripts which I have to copy to make the LEby rkrug - Debian
Solved - somehow the wrong key was copied. No idea how. I copied it over from a different machine.by rkrug - Debian
I followed the guide at https://www.debian.org/devel/passwordlessssh and many times it worked - but I now installed the ned Debian rootfs on a new pogoplug, and I can't get passwordless login to work! Even though the key is copied and has the permissions 600, I am still asked for the password. How can I enable passwordless login for the new Debian rootfs? Any suggestions?by rkrug - Debian
I have seen that I can install Plex Server on a pogoplug running Arch (http://blog.qnology.com/2013/03/tutorial-pogoplug-e02-with-arch-linux.html) but can I also install it on Debian? I prefer Debian very much and was only confused by Arch the last time I tried it out. Any suggestions?by rkrug - Debian
Just to complete: I re-build the the uImage and it worked - something must have gone the first time. Cheers, Rainerby rkrug - uBoot

Ah. Strange - I followed the instructions at http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?4,3896 and it did not give me any error messages. OK - I will try than again after I have the USB drive. Thanksby rkrug - uBoot
OK - I thought the same. Than I will get a small USB drive and try it out later today - all the ones I have are broken or used... But shouldn't the Rescue System boot without the USB drive?by rkrug - uBoot
Docker under debian - and the container from external hdd. But I went to the site and it told me: root@pogoplug:~# wget -qO- https://get.docker.com/ | sh Error: you are not using a 64bit platform. Docker currently only supports 64bit platforms. root@pogoplug:~# So it won't work on the pogoplug E2. Pity. I don't assume there is a 64 bit device similar to the Pogoplug (priceby rkrug - Debian
Hi I bought a pogoplug to which I could not connect via ssh, but it worked via serial cable - fine. I than devided to install the rescue system, and there I am now: it can't boot anymore. It is in an endless loop and gives me via the serial console: -Boot 2011.12 (Feb 20 2012 - 21:21:59) Pogoplug E02 SoC: Kirkwood 88F6281_A0 DRAM: 256 MiB WARNING: Caches not enabled NAND:by rkrug - uBoot
Hi I just want to make sure: is it possible to run Docker on a pogolug E02? I would like to put some programs into containers which would make portability and maintenance much easier (if performance is OK.)? Any suggestions? Thanks, Rainerby rkrug - Debian

OK - the idea is to have one for NAS and Time Machine backups. I think you convinced me. Thanks and I guess I will order it than, Rainerby rkrug - Off-Topic
Thanks - I just compared the specs from http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5/seagate-goflex-net and http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5/pogoplug-v2-pinkgray and the only advantage of the GoFlex are the two sata ports - so for the moment I'll stick with the second Pogoplug when it is unbricked and look leasurely for a Dreamplug or an Odroid X4 maybe. Thanks Rainerby rkrug - Off-Topic
SATA is not that important for me at the moment. But why I wanted to move away from the E02 is that I had to do new Time Machines from scratch and lost backup history every few months - not acceptable. But it might also be caused by my aggressive settings for USB hdd power management. Otherwise I was happy with the E02. As I should be able to unbrick one of my E02, I might try it again with lessby rkrug - Off-Topic
Good point - I'll keep my eyes open and see what I get from the options you outlined. Processort power might be an issue, as afp sharing for Time Machine takes quite some processor power. Thanks, Rainerby rkrug - Off-Topic
Hm - interesting (especially the Gigabit), but they seem to be difficult to find here in France / Europe. Any experiences with the Pogoplug Series 4 (POGO-V4-A3-01) which has according to http://blog.qnology.com/p/difference-between-pogoplug-mobile-and.html the following specs: Architecture: ARMv5te Processor Marvell Kirkwood 800MHz RAM: 128MB NAND: 128MB Ethernet:by rkrug - Off-Topic
