Hi I am having two pogoplugs E02 where I use one for streaming music via logitech media server. I was using it also as a time capsule for backups of my Mac, but this as not to reliable (don't know why - every few weeks, the backups needed to be started from scratch...). Now I am thinking about adding a new device as an NAS (backup of music from the pogoplug and as a time capsule, smb sby rkrug - Off-Topic
Thanks - the Extreme is really quite long. Rainerby rkrug - Debian
As I am talking Pogoplug (and therefore USB 2.0) I will then go for the Ultra Fit. Thanks everybody, Rainertby rkrug - Debian
Thanks. The Ultra Fit is really nice and small - but as the pogo plug is just sitting on the shelve, it does not make such a big difference for me. Do you have any numbers how much faster the Extreme USB 3.0? They are only 8 Euro difference in price (32GB version), and the physical size does not bother me that much. And I can do some over provisioning with it - I will think about it latby rkrug - Debian
You are referring to this one: http://www.sandisk.com/products/usb/drives/ultra-fit3/ - Correct? This looks like a good option and it is rather cheap. I think I will order one (or two...). Thanks a lot, Rainerby rkrug - Debian
Stupid me - obviously USB 2.0 is the bottleneck. Absolutely no need for an SSD. I will look into the Sandisk Ultra Fit USB 3.0 drives, but I guess I will leave it as it is at the moment. Thanks for pointing out the USB 2.0, Rainerby rkrug - Debian
That is effectively what I am doing: A Transcend 32GB Flash Drive for booting / OS / swap and a 256GB 2.5" hdd for my music (running Logitech Media Server), as well as a 5TB HDD for backups (Time Machine from Mac, Duplicity from a Ubuntu computer as well as backup from the pogo plug using snapshot and cron). Maybe move the swap to the 256GB hdd? I will have to do some tests. You are reby rkrug - Debian
@DonCharisma Thanks for the useful info - I will go through the info (and the links) you provided. I will see where the SSD ends - I might use it as an external HDD for my Mac after all? Cheers, Rainerby rkrug - Debian
I know what the large LED in the front is for - but what is the little LED inside the pogoplug E02 indicating? See https://www.dropbox.com/s/bi0vwkaikasjp4e/LittleLED.jpg?dl=0 for an image of the little green LED. Thanks, Rainerby rkrug - Off-Topic
OK - I have to go shpping then. I'll report back. Thanks Rainerby rkrug - uBoot

Hi I have upgraded my ssd in my macbook (now 926 GB - instead of 256) and now have the 256 GB SSD which I thought I could use as the drive for my pogoplug (rootfs, swap(?), Music for LMS) instead of a 256 GB 2.5 HDD (power saving, access speed). Do you have any experiences with SSD under debian on a pogoplug? What do I hve to look for? Partitioning? fstab options? TRIM? ... Any suggestioby rkrug - Debian
How did you set up the home cloud? What are you using for this? I am assuming, you are not using the original pogoplug? I am asking because I am thinking about setting up a home cloud myself.by rkrug - Off-Topic
I registered it and I can see it from my pogoplug website, but it shows as offline - so I don't see the option to enable ssh. It seems as if the backdood is disabled. I will then see if I can get a serial console. Thanks, Rainerby rkrug - uBoot
Activation: The pogo plug is activated, I contacted them directly after I received the pogo plug - so that was sorted. SSH: Backdoor does not work: 2:14:10 ~$ curl -k "https://root:ceadmin@192.168.1.101/sqdiag/HBPlug?action=command&command=dropbear%20start"; curl: (7) Failed to connect to 192.168.1.101 port 443: Connection refused 12:14:35 ~$ I think it only works for thby rkrug - uBoot
Hi I bought a pogo plug on eBay which boots, is available in the network, I can ping it, and it is activated with pogo plug - but I can't activate ssh as it is not seen by the [pogoplug website. Is there anything I can do? Rainerby rkrug - uBoot
Sorry - my error. OK - now I understand it. So, before indulging into this adventure, I would like to know what the advantages are for running your kernel as it really seems to be the easiest to just extract the rc.local and halt from your rootfs and add the LED code from your init.d/halt to the installed version and copy the rc.local?by rkrug - Debian
Thanks - you'r a star. Got it running again. I used arcNumber=3542 (the one which worked before I changed) and unset the machid ( setenv machid ). Now it is booting again. Concerning netconsole: I did not get it to work with nc -l -u -p 6666 & nc -u 192.168.1.100 6666 but it worked how restamp suggested in this thread by using nc -klu 6666 Additional piece of info:by rkrug - Debian
I re-installed the uBoot environment (resetted the variables) as I must have messed them up earlier (I have the rescue system installed if important - but some time ago) and the followed your tutorial for Debian Wheezy (I have now debian Wheezy 7.8 installed), and my /etc/rc.local looks as follow: !/bin/sh -e # # rc.local # # This script is executed at the end of each multiuser runlevel.by rkrug - Debian
Thanks bodhi - this sounds encouraging. netconsole didn't show anything because I have s typo in the server ip. What are the correct values for arcNber and machid I should use? Rainerby rkrug - Debian
Hm - now I can't boot neither into Debian nor into the rescue System and netconsole shows me nothing either. Any suggestions (apart from a serial console into which I am going to invest)? ethact=egiga0 bootdelay=3 baudrate=115200 mainlineLinux=yes console=ttyS0,115200 led_init=green blinking led_exit=green off led_error=orange blinking mtdparts=mtdparts=orion_nand:1M(u-boot),by rkrug - Debian
Thanks - I'll try it out tomorrow. Which arcNumber are you using?by rkrug - Debian
I just realised that the rc.local file is empty on my new weeezy installation - while before my re-installation, there was code concerning the LED in it. Can somebody enlighten me what might have happened? The LEDs were fine before, but are only orange after the re-installation and reset of uBoot. Thanks, Rainerby rkrug - Debian
Thanks - I just put them into my shopping basket and will take it from there. I will come back with more qiuestions later. Thanks a lot, Rainerby rkrug - Debian
Hi I managed to boot into Deboian again, but I had to reset the uBoot variables. Unfortunately, I have forgotten which ones I changed. Now everything works, but not the LEDs - the light on the Pogoplug is always orange and does not turn green, and also stays orange after a shutdown (via ssh). I remember that I set the arcNumber and the machineID (or similar). Now I read to set fby rkrug - Debian
OK - Just to confirm. OK - I think I will make an image of the flashdrive and then re-install everything (not that much). And then: get a serial console. Thanks everybody, you convinced me, Rainerby rkrug - Debian
Hi is it possible to write the boot output (the one send via nc, or even more detailed) to a local logfile on an attached USB Flash Drive (or on the pogoplug itself)? This would make debugging during unattended booting much easier. Thanks, Rainerby rkrug - uBoot
My pogoplug is not booting from the flash drive anymore.
