It's been a while since I have posted, lurked mostly with nothing new to add. Picked up a Globalscale Mirabox cheaply and have tried to load bodhi Debian on it. Not sure what env's to use on the stock u-boot to get Debian-4.12.4-mvebu-tld-1 to boot from the external micro sd slot (mmcblk0). Curl command backdoor did not work on Pogoplug Pro/V3 for whatever reason. Like I said, only way to update u-boot was with serial console. At least that was my experience.by LeggoMyEggo - Off-Topic
Last plug I Debianized, option never appeared in Pogoplug online console even after waiting for an hour or so. Back door method with curl command didn't work either. Ended up doing the conversion via serial console. Anybody else have the same experience?by LeggoMyEggo - Off-Topic
FYI, I also enabled squeezelite on the same device running logitechmediaserver and both services running together seem to behave fine. I'll tuck the Guruplug it's running on someplace out of the way and control it's play either from the desktop or from Squeezer on my Android phone. Cool.by LeggoMyEggo - Debian

Instructions worked for me on a Guruplug running OEM Debian Jessie with two exceptions. The download link you provided timed out so the one I used for the server deb package was 'wget http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/7.9/sc/f67047a/logitechmediaserver_7.9.0~1466571941_all.deb'. That link can change daily so go here to get the latest file package link url. Also I needed to omby LeggoMyEggo - Debian

Sure you have the date and time set correctly? I would make sure ntp is installed and also do a 'dpkg-reconfigure tzdata'. Also, what were your mysquerril choices when in menuselect? As a side note, I never understood why NV never created a generic Debian script. Any IPBX systems based on Debian they have created for the most part were images for the Pi and Pogoplug V4. Helpful hint: I use the Win32DiskImager read function to make incremental backups of my Pogoplug flash drives on my Windoze 7 machine when I am experimenting with programs. That way I can revert to the old image within a matter of minutes having "borked" a flash drive image through experimentation. You can use 7-zip to compress those image files as archives and minimize storage spacby LeggoMyEggo - Debian

bodhi Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Any disk would be fine. nanddump outputs a binary > file so Linux does not care. I see why I was confused. Where am I dumping the file to, an attached USB flash drive? That's the part (no pun intended) I don't understand. If FD, should it be ext3 partition or is FAT ok?by LeggoMyEggo - Debian
I had that Plug (until I fried it by trying to use the wrong cable for serial) and I used the E02 u-boot. What sucks about that plug (other than one USB port and no SD card slot) is the the serial console connector is the same 4 position 1.25 micro JST pico blade as used in the Guruplug, Dreamplug and HP T5325. Better order a cable now before you start playing with it. And figure a future upgrby LeggoMyEggo - uBoot

Just means we will all have to "roll our own" in the future. Maybe look for a bunch of new development boards with enhanced or expandable network capabilities maybe even via modular addition. Think Raspberry Pi, router edition. Dreamplug would be a perfect older example, if it had an updated processor, 5 router ports and mini pci e slot it would be a perfect candidate. As a capstone to this thread, I did finally succeed in setting up this Pro as an OpenWRT wireless AP. Using the 15.01 rootfs, once I figured out the right kmods to load to enable the Atheros 300M wireless card I had installed and did some reading up on OpenWRT AP settings, the setup performs great. In fact it slightly out performs the consumer router in the house. Signal levels with the dualby LeggoMyEggo - Off-Topic
Perfect explanation Professor Bodhi ! Now I am enlightened :) So on average would running a Plug off of a NFS rootfs share hosted on a x86 system be faster than running that Plug off of a local USB drive? How does NFS compare to a Plug running off of a SATA drive (in the case of a Pro or Kirkwood device with SATA port)? Curious now.by LeggoMyEggo - Debian
Raises hand to ask stupid question.............. Um Mr. Professor, could you, er, um, elaborate on why you would want to use NFS for rootfs? I have a mix of V4 and V3 but don't feel all that confident I know too much. I hope it's not too much trouble. Staring at my notes on my desk, head hung in shame :(by LeggoMyEggo - Debian
Well dexter's prompting, it finally works! Just installed OpenWRT 15.01 on my dual antenna Pro with Atheros wifi card in the mpci-e slot and it now is an access point. Just had to load the kmods for ath9k and wpad and a little configuration changes (simple is the key) and I have an access point which has been my goal all along. Have the SATA port mod so that it can be a file server too.by LeggoMyEggo - uBoot
