Though I'm not sure of the ways of Pogoplug memory management, but in the area of splitting hairs avoiding swap file use it would seem logical to get the processing over so RAM is finished with the operation. In windows you'd also need to kick DLLs out of memory and it could cause instability. I remember lately someone mentioning you could clock the Pogoplugs higher, and I completelby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
I'd updated that above, and thank you sir! I may as well make a backup and update my PogoPlug cheat sheet with the new stuff. It's still evolving but keeps thing straight. So attached is my makeshift PogoPlug Cheat sheet - some entries I don't plan on installing till there's more reliable storage, but maybe it'll give someone ideas. Aye aye Capt, got swappiness set to 2, and it took a few tries, but midori seems working as well. Yeah so far this seems quite usable. As for streaming videos, that's not any problem as my connection is a hair too slow anyway (756kbps) but that brings up an almost universal problem everyone has, is a way to manage video downloads. -update- no I didn't succeed, but learned a few things. DSL does have a Mount function, so i was able to get into user space on the DOM. Nothing fun is accessable and I suspect it's the BIOS that loads the important true fstab (more on this next paragraph) Back to 10Zig and its PeakOS, there's a trick I learned by accident, where you can't get higher than Home, but whenby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
Months ago I went to Goodwill, and out of the Thin Clients, got one I'm happiest about. It's a 10Zig 67xx, roughly 1.2Ghz processor (clocks to 1.6) and 1GB DDR3 RAM, expandable. 512 MB DOM hard drive, lots of RDP clients that love Pogoplug, and even PCI, PCIX and SATA port inside (I didn't know this till tonight). Runs PeakOS. Tonight i had a different problem, got locked intoby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic

Despite my inability to use Nano yet (I filled in those blanks with WinSCP) all's well and login was painless! Wow, is this COOL! Naw, no offense taken. In fact thanks a million Leggo not only for sharing your quite-inspiring creative skills but all the helps otherwise. -edited- okay okay, I got into Webmin and looked at the packages listed for all things x, and indeed it's time to move on, start over with the other Pogo. Begrudgingly I might just register it with the Pogo people and like it. In a way it;s a shame Damn Small Linux won't run on Pogoplugs, as it's not bad at all on a 366MHz 128MB RAM Thin Client. That's what I did earlier, went through the xrdp modules one by one. Remote desktop was initiated by x64 Windows, but below are results from Windows 7 x86 laptop. I'm afraid not, but here's the screenshot of WinSCP if it helps. If it's a swap issue, I still not only lack a working swap file, the desktop Mint install ran out of partitions for one as well. Not a good swap week here lolby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic

Linux aficionados of expertise, as you well know there are conflicting schools of thought regarding swap files. And instead of my mentioning the ways that don't work for my situation, maybe we can start fresh; Pogoplug Pro or anything you may need to be clever about RAM management. Gents I don't know if my lack of working swap file is the cause of my RDP problems, but it's a persistent problem. After trying this, replacing fstab reference to /etc/rc.local, here's what free does after a reboot: root@DebianPlug:~# free total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 121776 116872 4904 0 47968by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic

Gravelrash up above when I wrote that, my USB stick had one partition. Since then I put the USB stick in a Windows format app and added swap samba partitions. Took screenshot, attached. Then on my laptop running live Mint I used GParted to see what Linux sees. Oh i forgot, Pogoplug Debian ought to have the dev/sdc allocations. Almost edited in time! Hailstorm blew over. Gravelrash, I should have almost 3 GB free space on the USB stick's current partition. It's brand new, and I'd risk a large swap drive just to make sure it's close enough working to make quality backup copy.
