- Thanks Leggo, I tried it and it doesn't work on the new stock /etc/apt/sources.list file. The ONE time I didn't backup something... Then I got the idea to go into my E02's Debian Wheezy sources.list file and that doesn't look the same as whatever the newer Pro Debian list. And the Pro list had two entries I think, not three.by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
-edited my super funny humor- Well if that's the case with all drivers behaving that way, I can re-try. And if you don't mind... 1. any idea why it "Could not open configuration file" ? Oh... i wonder if, when i changed the apt-get update sources to the non-free ones, in order to get the ralink driver, I'd saved the previous two stock sources but got so tired I forgby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
Configuration file: /root/hostapd-test.conf Could not open configuration file '/root/hostapd-test.conf' for reading. I should have paid more attention to a working wireless unit early on. The best solution as it stands would seem to be, wipe this Debian out, start from scratch, and go with that Atheros or something. I tried some command line and this thing was able to result known wireless SSIDs around here. Was pretty happy knowing it was a step forward. Got further! I didn't know about that update trick Gravelrash so thanks for that. It updated, then I got to: root@DebianPlug:~# iwconfig wlan0 -bash: iwconfig: command not found That's where I'm at. -update- I'm noodling around in Webmin, and got wlan0 to activate at startup, it's active now but probably missing something. That's great news. I'll try to wrap my head around that - even if I can't, thanks both of you because I learned new things. Eventually this stuff sinks in, and I've got the luck. though I have doubts anyone can stand this any longer, let me show where I know it's going wrong: The driver as downloaded is EW-7822UAC_linux_v4.2.2_7502.20130517.tar.gz Their instructions are: 1. Ahh, so you CAN put a video decoder in the mpcie slot but it gets that hot. Maybe a solution is an all-metal chassis that acts as a big heatsink (with fan): http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2055 I'd love to get my hands on a couple of those Video models, just for experimentation. Oh I see now... should have read the fine print... some Mint version use Debian for the package base and others use Ubuntu. I'm going with Debian lately, not only it's conveniently the same learning curve as 2/3 of my Pogoplug madness, but now that I think of it, Ubuntu's packages managing and many things left a bad taste in my mouth. I even entertain the notion, Ubuntu's evby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
Between the two of you those solutions ought to cover a lot of contingencies (you know, Murphy's Law). I just wish Find had a predetermined set of paths so for example you'd enter "trees .jpg" and it would result any jpeg that had trees in the label. Or "crowes .flac" might return Black Crowes in flac format. And then over LAN. I'm not much of a movie nut butby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Debian
SUCCESS! Gray the first time I tried this, did everything right except made an error making a password. 2nd attempt: paid attention to password and I'm in! Wow! It said "couldn't' find directory" something like that when I ran the Pro dtb. I'd think the bottom mounts either need more isolation (four rubber disks), or more mass (epoxy bottom mounts to a brick). Both sound extreme, but just making a point. In the old days of PCs my throw-together computers had lots of fans and resonance problems like that. One time a solution was to sit it on top of a regular construction brick. Sudo doesn't work but i got the driver, un-tarred it to files, renamed the folder rtl8812au and used WinSCP to copy it to Pogplug Pro's (Debian) /tmp folder.
