Cant' wait to try that, thanks a million habibie. Oh yeah forgot to exclaim, that paper IS a good read. OT but I'm going to make a Linux cheat sheep based on the code legend. Can't get some of this stuff into my head without repetition.by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Debian
And similarly, i will admit the thought crossed my mind if linking our registration names to each MAC address (at Pogo site to enable SSH) has something to do with the low cost? I know beyond our safe neighborhoods it's a cruel world, and intelligence agencies have their jobs to do. But I've looked at text I've written ten years earlier and -edited- LOL That was the initial appeby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Debian
Uhm...since the topic got jumbled a bit, mind if I ask... does OpenWRT on Pogoplug support jumbo frames? Or does Pogo anyway? Trying to get my LAN balanced and blueprinted.by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - uBoot
PERFECT! I'll read that until it sticks :-) Thank you both so much.by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
Awe thanks; and additional thing I ought to do is make a live Debian USB stick to boot from the Thin Client, to illustrate where 10ZiG (Peak OS I think) is different than the other Linux iterations used around here. I've seen "mount a network share" elsewhere but not from this thin client. Not there yet but thanks for another step forward!by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
I'm thrilled a Thin Client (10ZiG 6772) running Linux can get to Pogoplug E02 (Qui's Arch and Gravelrash's Debian) with browsers. Cool! Eventually the thought occurs to me, in Windows you'd "map a network drive" and enter the \\IP\shared, something like that, but how do you do that in Linux?by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
Yes, I forgot there's little servers running. And when you add a "head" or graphics adapter, maybe that's another server. This calls for some more research on my part. Command line? Errr... naw, not for me as long as possible.by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic

It was said to be more durable than USB but not so much RAM. It's almost perfect, but not there yet. What I'll do is finish some of the nags on my E02 and put some time into mini-pcie research 'fore the weekend is though. What I do (think I) know is, when there's a bottleneck and you run out of RAM, usually it writes back to the hard drive at half the speed you can readby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Debian
On second thought I might be lucky Amazon doesn't take PayPal. The reviewers bring some great insights to the table. One, that it's memory that can wear out. What i had in mind was, a memory that's as durable as regular RAM. Still if i see the same part I might make a China order off eBay for a couple other RAMS for my little Wyze SX0. !!!!!!! Thanks !!!!!! -update- (heh) If this dosen't get me thrown out... one more plz... There is a GUI that runs Aria, a webpage: https://github.com/ziahamza/webui-aria2 They say to open the webpage and that hooks with Aria running in the background. Does that mean having a browser inside Linux? Or that page somewhere in the Home directory or something. This might relate toby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
I'm not sure I understand what constitutes a GUI. Webmin and Transmission display over LAN through browser. This is great, can't ask more. I abandoned the "Thin Client accessing Pogoplug Desktop" tangent because it now seems unnesisarry for Pogo to create a desktop shell. So in this case I'm hoping for a GUI only as exotic as Webmin and Transmission. Make it downloby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
I can't believe this: if integratable this fulfills the awesomeness of Pogo: http://www.amazon.com/Memory-Card-Intel-Turbo-Half/dp/B008XDHNME Or 1-Gig version for under $9: http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Turbo-Memory-Card-1GB/dp/B000Q82V1W/ref=pd_sim_sbs_pc_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1VYCGP6WFB71N5Q912EA If it's possible to manage it, and that particular Pogoplug dosen't need grby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Debian

I'm no coder habibie but am interested in what you're saying. I never cared to run Pogo software on my first plug, but after what I've seen, if I could crowbar Pogo's software from broadcasting to foreign nations... or put it this way... I live in rural America, and would love to have a neighborhood file sharing thing going, maybe 1-2 thousand feet in any direction. Most especby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Debian
Webmin, Transmission and Samba almost perfectly nail its intended purpose. But webmin's download manager lacks for my needs. I need to do a fair amount of downloading at App.Box, and need a download manager that can resume and run a list of downloads unattended. There seems to be many options out there but some rely on Java and some Firefox. Thought you guys would know better what'by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
(I might have thought the other-way-around adapter was $7, sorry if true) I really like that riser one, it's the one that impressed me at Amazon. That makes so much sense it isn't funny, a true PCie jack on the outside of a pogoplug and maybe even a drip of power if the device is efficient. Hey Leggo somewhere I saw you salivating over the idea of AC wireless, and one thing i canby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Debian
Yeah although there's a lot of nice "upgrades" for that particular slot (bluetooth, AC WiFi, SATA SSD etc) I don't see affordable mini pcie graphics cards. Therefore what i'll keep an eye out for is, adapters from mini to regular pcie. I already see some in the $7 neighborhood, and if that's possible then the world of anything pcie is right there. Which makes "Imitation" and login name "gravelrash" flattery and a half :-D I was wondering too, if anyone minds, final cables to acquire for Pro before I'm broke... * I don't understand the eSata adapter thing - the pics I've seen online made me think it was a standard SATA jack and run it out to SATA drive. Not so? Specialty cables needed? * anotherby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Debian
Two on the way just in case. Again they got my address from PayPal. Thanks much, I'll keep an eye out for the cable and likely probably have one on hand. Hear that Leggo? I'll go register at openWRT as JoeGuinea or something LOL Thinking out loud again, another place i might deviate from Zyxel and other's designs, is to use the standard laptop cooler fan for the cooling needs.by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Debian
oh that's great - I'll probably configure one for OpenWRT and the other as Debian NAS heartbeat. Forgive my non-saviness but if anyone knows of a good, cheap TTL to USB thing (not just a guess plz!) let me know. -edit- bohdi I don't mean to sound freakout, but I don't know which you were referring to when you say "these are". I ordered good ones or not?by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Debian
Grayman (after seeing yer tutorial) and Leggo (yeah really they're prolly at least Cat5 E cables right?), I had an unexpected winfall ($25 LOL) so I've ordered two P02s . * $20 in rebates lost is a bite, but that's what it cost me to keep the man from shaking me down. Oh no this isn't v3 at Qui's tutorial? Did I screw-up?. Just a note to self, I'll be lookingby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Debian
ARRGH! Today isn't a good one for ordering. At Adorama it says QuoteDue to Passover Holiday . We are closed from April 3 - April 10.. I'm a pauper deluxe, and the only reason I have the jing is because NewEgg wont process an order after loading PayPal. I was shooting for a 1.5 TB portable drive, which still needs be done. Yes, if jing were more aplenty I'd get two Pogoplug Pros,by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Debian
I hope not to rain on the parade, but has anyone looked at the rebate? As a member said, it's an American Express Rewards card, and there's a $2 per month fee (after 5 months). I'm not aware of Linux apps that are one-click and go on a USB stick, but that's a nice safety net to get to Ye 'olde Pogoplug when changing torrents and thereabouts and all you have is a Windows machine. Way a long time ago I was using Knoppix and other live Linuxes, but, seemed like about 9 years ago I dedicated a couple partitions to Ubuntu. Ubuntu worked okay on my PCs, but wasn't crash-resistant enough to take seriously. I'm sure pilot error had a lot to do with it. But one thing I did do, was try a lot of apps, wrote down the ones I liked (since my favorite apps weren't thereby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
