Guys, Does it look like the back plate of this Nsa320 can be removed ? I saw only 2 top screws. I would get this box if I can run it without the fan. Thanksby bodhi - Debian
Do you have the log when you run dockstar.debian-squeeze.sh the first time? It shows how uBoot was installed, and anything abnormal occurred during that step. Blinking green and never got to solid green means that either the kernel (uImage) and initrd (uInitrd) were not loaded successfully. But it does not mean the box is bricked. If you have installed uBoot (part of the squeeze script) succesby bodhi - Debian

dinjo, Read the instruction! the rootfs has 3.11.1 kernel. Meaning the rootfs kernel is later than 3.9.x, 3.10.x.... :)by bodhi - Debian
gaogao, Did you try to turn on/off each HDD LED with echo? what do you see with these (in various order): echo default_on > nsa320:green:hdd1 echo default_on > nsa320:green:hdd2 echo none > nsa320:green:hdd2 echo none > nsa320:green:hdd2by bodhi - Debian

max, Before you run Jeff script, try setting netconsole if you don't have serial console: http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,14 Once you are in netconsole, you can print out the uBoot envs and other stuff. If you want to run Jeff's script to replace uBit with the latest uBoot version, it is best if you have serial console connected. If you don't, it is a little risky, sby bodhi - Debian
dinjo, Please be more specific when you post, I did not realize that you have booted OK into Debian. Did you? Rescue system is not really necessary if you have either serial console, or netconsole to recover from problem. So if you don't like messing up wth hardware, setup netconsole right away after you've booted successfully into Debian.by bodhi - Debian
After you ssh in, what's the output of these commands? uname -a cat /etc/fw_env.config fw_printenv dmesgby bodhi - Debian
See my response on the other thread. Now pls keep only this thread going.by bodhi - Debian
dinjo, If you have not rebooted, then set up netconsole first. And then use 3.11.1 my rootfs to boot. Once you're successfully booted, if not yet have netconsole then set it up the first thing. Only after it is running OK, then you can change arcNumber to the GoFlex Net.by bodhi - Off-Topic

Dinjo, Squeeze is too old, so lots of pakages are not up to date. Yes, you can use my 3.11.1 rootfs as a starting point, and install packages. Later, you can use apt-get update and apt-get upgrade to get latest packages (not dist-upgrade).by bodhi - Off-Topic
restamp Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'm curious: How can the uBoot find the UUID from > which it is desired to boot from unless it scans > the USB devices first? restamp, I think the question was misleading. dinjo, This instruction still works fine: http://projects.doozan.com/debian/ Run the squeeze script (wheezy has problem), and then upgrade to wheezy. After you've got squeeze running, remember to back up your USB stick before the upgrade. If you encounter problems during the upgarde to wheezy, post back in Debian section, and we'll help.by bodhi - Off-Topic
IIRC, when you run the script install_uboot_mtd0.sh, it will ask you whether you want to keep the current uBoot envs or restore to the default version, you should say No (I think it is the default answer).by bodhi - Debian

maihoa, Yes, you can uninstall syslogd, and logging will go to /var/log/message. Or keep it and change the option to log to a file. cat /etc/init.d/busybox-syslogd # Additional options that are passed to the daemons. Default is to log # to ring buffer (to be read with logread(1)) and drop duplicates. SYSLOG_OPTS="-C128" KLOG_OPTS="" # busybox syslogd --by bodhi - Debian

lotus49, Restamp is probably right! if your uBoot is too old, it won't boot Wheezy 3.2. Try this 3.11.1 rootfs (I patched this kernel so it will boot both old and new uBoot versions): http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,12096 If you can boot into this rootfs, you then can update your uBoot. And try your own wheezy roofts again.by bodhi - Debian
