Thanks , I'm still stuck, I'm hoping someone could make a copy and paste thing. I followed those links and other links but I don't see any for just the dockstar ( I did install the programs they suggested and tried to setup hostapd the right way.) Not exactly sure what I'm doing wrong. What I want is the dockstar to broadcast a wifi signal that I can see on my IPAD , noby rgtaa - Debian
I have my dockstar working with debian squeezebox server and wifi working with usb audio card in it. At this point, it connects to router in my home. I am asking you guys if you know a way to get this dockstar to broadcast wifi on it's own so I can control the dockstar with just my IPAD/itouch. I want to go to home with no router and plug in dockstar with wifi dongle and connect to it wby rgtaa - Debian
hi guys I know jeff did the rescue system for putting on his special rescue files on nand. What I'm looking to do is install using a jeff-like way to put orginal pogoenvironment back on nand so I could have access to pogo software again . I have the backup nand which I made in the past ... how do I get it back on nand of rescue system in easy way. I notice a number of people are inby rgtaa - Rescue System
Ranganadh! I'm with you. I am surprised there is no where we can reinstall the dockstar nand back on dockstar. Jeff has recovery nand so obviously just substituting dockstar nand should work. Even if you get his backup nand how can you get it to work? If one of you guys were able to use the recovery nand type script and get dockstar nand back on , please post link or something. I do have the 5 dollar lcd working, so I understand the process. It is tiny screen about 1 inch screen. I figured I would ask if anybody found a 5 inch or 7 inch or 9inch device like this that could be hacked that would work. I also have vga to usb adapter that works on monitors, but if I could find a 5-9 inch device like the 5 dollar one that would be cool.by rgtaa - Displays
Good suggestions. I was ext2 on my boot drive and just updated to ext3. As to recovery script , could anyone post a script that would work and maybe instructions on how or where to place it on recovery nand. linux is not my first language ( more ms guy) so I would need copy and paste , so I don't screw it up. :) Thanksby rgtaa - Debian
In my area , power goes out 3 or 4 times a month for a few seconds and my usb hard drive get's corrupted. I was interested in just a recovery nand that auto fixes usb drive and auto starts back into usb hard drive. If no usb hard drive is on dockstar than recovery nand starts as normal. Most of us have power failures from time to time and this auto fix and auto restart could make theby rgtaa - Debian
Peter Thanks for the xmas present, I'll check it out. I love your page where you collected all you cool upgrades for the dockstar. It will be fun during the next year to see what else you can do with our dockstars. :) Thanks santa! :)by rgtaa - Displays
Jim! Just be careful , Peter told us not to get it from amazon in the beginning of this thread. If it comes with CD , that would be the one to get, but if it doesn't you can't hack it. Nice job turning the wire so you could reverse it, does it work ok? Maybe read the first few pages where we talk about the type of lcd you need , and maybe someone can point you in good directionby rgtaa - Displays

Could you make it a little easier for me. I got the: apt-get install lighttpd And I downloaded your files and put them in the right folder. But the other stuff I'm confused about. Do we have to install php-cgi? and how? is there an apt-get install we should do for it, and could you spell it out for us. If the other stuff was stuff you went to site and downloaded, is it in yoby rgtaa - Debian
I'm sort of hoping Peter will post a "copy and paste" of a MPD server and client program all set up for us that WORKS! (with auto start) :) ... that we can control from our PC or monitor attached to dockstar. That would be cool. Peter seems to be able to figure this stuff out "on the fly". If someone else can get MPD server and client program figured out that WOby rgtaa - Debian
Good luck bro. Your other option is to install Jeff's recovery system on your NAND, and you would not need ca-42 for that. At least you would have ssh access on nand again and then wait for "restore nand" program. Or you can go ahead and have fun with CA-42. I'm sure others will be able to walk you through the process, and I will be interested too, I have CA-42 too but I&by rgtaa - Debian
Sorry tegsirat for giving wrong info on hotplugging into lcd4linux. Peter figured out the way to hot plug for the root access on the mini-lcd which is all I've used the mini-lcd for. It must have been frustrating reading the posts and not getting it to work. Well, now we know it just works for root access. sorry again.by rgtaa - Displays
Peter What could be cool would be to use a keyboard to control internet radio stations. Maybe a combo key would be "key" to launch the program and all the keys would be different stations. If we could set it up so no LCD is needed , anybody could just assign different keys to their favorite stations. With a couple of keys for volume and other stuff. So we turn on dockstar. The hotplug works because Peter linked right to the device in rc.local file. So anywhere it sees this device It will hotplug it. Before it was set to first usb slot a, or one of the others ones, so you are gonna have to read what peter said to do.by rgtaa - Displays
Gorgone I see camstart is installed in your package, do you have any info on it. I checked the web and couldn't find anything. Is it a security cam program, can you tell me what I need to set it up? I know there are cool stuff in your build but where is the readme file for sharing what programs are installed. If there is a forum room where you discuss your install stuff, link it. Yeah get a 4 gig stick and then you don't have to worry about running out of space. :) apt-get remove ( and then the name of the program will remove it from dockstar, and look at the info lines as you remove it because it will usually tell you how to remove other files connected with that program and say something like autoremove .... 4 gigs would allow you to have fun and try stuff aby rgtaa - Debian
tegsirat You might want to go through the tread, because some of your answers lie there. Peter and Me had discussion on how to hot plug this device and also put it in startup script. Very cool stuff. So I can remove the mini screen any time and plug it in and it will work. So you could use it to see something on screen then remove it and plug it in later and it works. Peter Remember when I told you in your guide that something was wrong with the first part. I figured out what you are missing. Go look at first page of this thread, the first steps. The correct first part is there but not on your webpage. You forgot to put some of those steps on your webpage. That is why your webpage didn't work for me. add this to your webguide: apt-get install lby rgtaa - Displays
Any chance of getting some type of music/internet radio menu program like I can do with squeezebox server. So I can from web-browser change stations and maybe even use the mini-lcd to change stations and stuff. It would be cool from the 5 dollar lcd screen to control changing stations using the 3 buttons, and maybe control volume and other stuff. Mini internet/music device. I ordered thby rgtaa - Debian
Peter Do you recommend that adapter in this link, I was on amazon and looked at the reviews of it and tons of people gave it 1 star. Not sure if I should pick one up but wasn't sure when you say the video is very slow, didn't know how bad it is. :) Does it come with a power adapter or did you have to pick that up seperately? I have a tonidoplug that doesn't work from NAND , I was wondering if there is a way to remove arcNumber stuff completely. Not sure if that would fix the problem. I can boot from usb stick and I can boot from recovery system on it, but I am able to flash the tonidoplug back to factory but not sure if arcNumber stuff would screw up the tonidoplug from seeing NAND factory install.by rgtaa - Debian
Glad that worked for you. From usb stick, do the recovery system install.by rgtaa - Debian
Gee I'm not sure what you are saying exactly. Can you boot from usb stick? If your bootloader still works, you might be able to download an image that would work and you would at least have usb stick access. I'm gonna give you a website, where you could get a ready made image for dockstar, you have to follow the guide and it will create bootable dockstar debian squeeze install.by rgtaa - Debian
Yes, you are right. Here is nice wiki guide to help some newbies. http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezePlug There are different sections for the different plugs, and programs to install that allow mounting drives and installing webmin and samba and other stuff. Peter I'm still trying how to get some type of interface that I can use in windows 7 that can control radio stations on the dockstar. For the Iradio link I listed the radio stations that work, you can edit the iradio file and remove the stations that no longer work, also, we can add NEW ones, but I don't know how to do that yet. Maybe we can find a current list, since that file isby rgtaa - Debian
Ray Peter will help you as he has helped a lot of us. I generally make a backup of my dockstar image on ubuntu computer, so I can experiment with stuff and if it screws up, I just load a "backup" of my last working dockstar back on the stick or hard drive. I posted here what worked for me , 3 programs and Peter's configure file. I ran into conflicts with all those other instaby rgtaa - Debian
