I'm not sure how to enable the text console. You probably need to add module(s) to /etc/modules and add a setting to /etc/modprobe.d/options. Some info here might be relevant. Report back if you work out how to do it :-) -PGby petergunn - Debian
Hi teb, did you follow twinclouds build instructions? Step 8 mentions res_rtp_asterisk. The modules should end up in /usr/lib/asterisk/modules # ls -al /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/res_rtp_asterisk.so -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 315416 Mar 5 12:06 /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/res_rtp_asterisk.so -PGby petergunn - Debian
@twinclouds > how do you specify in the Linphone? Do you use serverip:port #? I uninstalled Linphone because the call quality was so bad, but from memory I used hostname:port for the proxy. > I Sipdroid, I always have the problem say no data network available Have you checked the following? @Keith, modifying the following line in generate-hack.pl should allow the script to get further... change: die "Eeek! expected single match but found $count - dont know what to do!\n" if $count!=1; to print "Eeek! expected single match but found $count - dont know what to do!\n" if $count!=1; -PGby petergunn - Displays

Sorry codier - Its been many years since I used samba/CUPS for printer sharing. I have a network printer now that manages its own queue :-) -PGby petergunn - Debian
FYI - I tried the Android Market version of Linphone Video and it works as both a regular SIP extension and also does video calls to other SIP phones, but the sounds quality is awful on my HTC EVO 3D + the video comes from the back facing camera rather than the front facing one (changing the setting doesn't help). To get video working you need to modify the asterisk config: /etc/asteriby petergunn - Debian

You need to install the Java applet so that the browser can download it and connect to the vnc server: apt-get install tightvnc-java # just do this once Stop any old servers: for x in {1..10}; do vncserver -clean -kill :$x 2>/dev/null; done rm -f /tmp/.X*-lock /tmp/.X11-unix/X* Start up the server: vncserver -geometry 800x600 -depth 16 :1 Found /usr/share/tightvnc-java for http connby petergunn - Debian

I think these errors are normal the very first time you start fluxbox as it cannot find the configuration in ~/.fluxbox/init file. Which gets created the first time you run fluxbox. The default values are nearly always fine anyway. Now you've got a desktop try installing or running midori web browser. It uses far less memory than iceweasel. -PGby petergunn - Debian
@Phreon - You have a modern Displaylink device not a USB2VGA. So it should work if you follow the instructions in the first post of this thread. Do not follow the instructions in the USB2VGA thread that is just for older USB2VGA devices that use the SIS chipset. Also, try to avoid posting massive messages that make the thread unreadable - its much better to use an attachment for logs like theby petergunn - Debian
VNC server can be accessed through a web browser without installing any software on the client PC. Just browse to http://<dockstarIP>:5800 when vnc server is running. You could also install xrdp on top of VNC server and use Windows rdesktop for access. -PGby petergunn - Debian

NOTICE[21056]: chan_sip.c:23357 handle_request_subscribe: Received SIP subscribe for peer without mailbox: 101 ^^ Seems harmless - just means there is no mailbox set up in /etc/asterisk/voicemail.conf -- Executing ["the number"@outbound:1] Dial("SIP/101-00000000", "Gtalk/"my accout"/"the number"@voice.google.com") in new stack ^^ This is gooby petergunn - Debian

No specific reason for the 50k number. I think I tried 44k and my adapter didn't like it so I just guessed at 50k and it seemed to work so I kept it. 48k probably makes more sense. :-) -PGby petergunn - Debian
Ok, I have removed apache and added restamps config to fix the CallerID. All working good :-) Yesterday I upgraded my cell phone to an HTC EVO 4G (Android) and installed sipdroid so I can make and receive free wireless calls using my asterisk server. This works over 3G/4G/Wifi and does not use cell minutes. I installed the current version of sipdroid that was available through Android Market.by petergunn - Debian

From what I read asterisk can set the 802.1p QoS tags (part of the VLAN field) in the IP header to mark the audio packets as being prioritized. There is some config in iax.conf. I think iproute2 outgoing qdisc will ignore but preserve this when publishing the packet unless you add specific config (i.e. tbf or htb qdiscs). Then its up to the network hardware. Wow! Asterisk 1.8.3 works on Squeeze and no need for Gizmo or SIP numbers etc. :-) Quick How To: 1) Follow twinclouds excellent instructions 2) overlay the google voice config from superm1 mkdir /etc/asterisk/tmp cd /etc/asterisk/tmp wget -r -nd http://www.arctangent.net/~superm1/gv_configs/ cd /etc tar cvfz asterisk_config.tgz asterisk # backup - just in case :-) cd /etc/asterisby petergunn - Debian

For the last few years I have been using a Linksys PAP2 adapter to connect a regular phone to Google Voice/Gizmo5 for free US calls and its been great. I just received notice from Google that the Gizmo service will be discontinued on April 3rd so its time to find a replacement. twinclouds, do you know if the current asterisk in the debian squeeze arm repos works on squeeze and would it work usby petergunn - Debian
@ingmar_k - I now have two 2.4" AX206 that have no entry in profiles.py and I think they would make great dockstar displays. Unfortunately quick and dirty attempts to find a hack didn't go anywhere. I'm hoping someone will eventually create some newhack.txt style instructions like there was for the st2205 devices. -PGby petergunn - Displays

Do you have a link that shows the picframe you have? If it looks like my one you might want to try a full reflash. There is a good chance it might brick your device but the risk is probably no greater than modifying the hack to overwrite a non-empty area.
