I think you might be out of luck unless you want to risk overwriting a non-empty area. It would be interesting to see if generate-hack.pl completes if you comment out the line that complains about not being able to find space: #die "ERROR: cant find free space in fwimage-seg0.bin\n" if !/(\xff{240,})/; Obviously do not actually try to use any hack that might be generated if you trby petergunn - Displays

Any ideas how to add an new hack to profiles.py? I tried copying the other entries and changing a few parameters but I think a new hack might be required - unfortunately there is no new hack instructions like there was for st2205 devices. I left a comment on the DPF blog. -PGby petergunn - Displays
Looks like just some unecessary stuff in the Makefile. The following compiles on my Ubuntu laptop (haven't tried debian): Install build tools: apt-get install sdcc python-dev Compile: cd /tmp wget http://tech.section5.ch/files/dpfhack-0.0alpha.tgz tar xvfz dpfhack-0.0alpha.tgz cd dpf/src perl -pi -e 's/app_clr.ihx jumptbl.ihx//' Makefile # change Makefile make Iby petergunn - Displays
I actually have a slightly different 2.4 micca although its sure to have the same electronics underneath. The one I ordered from DX took at least 2 months to arrive. I would have chased it or cancelled it if it had not been over the busy Xmas period. -PGby petergunn - Displays
I also have a 2.4" Appotech AX20x (micca) but they don't appear to be hackable at least for now. I'm actually using it to hold pictures - the 2.4" screen is much better than the 1.5" ones. I also recently received on of those DX frames thats supposed to be hackable - haven't had a chance to try it yet but it is free standing so it can sit on the dockstar shelf.by petergunn - Displays
Truxntrax, I think you have exactly the same adapter I do (although it will work for must usb adapters). You should just be able replicate the config exactly. -PGby petergunn - Debian
Hi Trux, have a look at my earlier post You need the following in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf to make sure adapter is loaded as card '0' after reboot # Allow snd-usb-audio to be loaded as first soundcard options snd-usb-audio index=0 -PGby petergunn - Debian
I suspect its connecting fine but then disconnecting before you can use it. You may need to add options to persist/keep-alive/reconnect the session. My phone seems to drop/reconnect automatically. Have a look at http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-600885.html Update: The following web page is clearer: http://blog.samat.org/2007/01/28/sprints-evdo-mobile-broadband-on-ubuntu-linuxby petergunn - Debian
after connecting and changing routes try... # reconnect... poff pon sprint # check DNS cat /etc/resolv.conf # check connection... ping news.bbc.co.uk ping 212.58.244.60 -PGby petergunn - Debian
Post the output from route -n before/after connection is active. Its likely you just need to adjust your routing so ppp0 is the default route. -PGby petergunn - Debian

Hi petec, I didn't realize you just wanted a regular vnserver desktop. I posted some basic instructions a couple of months ago - pretty much the same as yours. You may want to try midori (apt-get install midori) as a web browser as its much lighter on resources than iceweasel. uzbl is also fun :-) If the vncserver is running its httpd mode you can also connect to http://<dockstarIPby petergunn - Debian
Its a kernel module called mv_cesa. When it active you'll see as new kernel thread (also called mv_cesa) offloading some of the work from kcryptd. I'm using Gorgone's 2.6.35.7 kernel and mv_cesa seems to load/activate automatically when you use a compatible cipher mode. -PGby petergunn - Debian

I'm going to add a 2TB disk to my dockstar to keep periodic rsync backups from another server. I want to encrypt the drive using cryptsetup/LUKS so that I can mount it by simply plugging it into my laptop or servers that run Ubuntu desktop. I found some benchmarks for various cryptsetup cipher modes on the 'net but the benchmarks were for x86 so I decided to script a test to see howby petergunn - Debian

Looks to me like you can write to every pixel on the screen and the image is just offset a bit. At this stage I would suggest leaving the configuration the way it is and just modify libst2205 to render the output so it looks correct. > Thu Jan 06 06:43:49 2011 Options error: unknown --redirect-gateway flag: defl Looks like the bug that MediaMind noticed. It should be "def1" rather than "defl". It was fixed in the latest setup_vpn.sh script. -PGby petergunn - Debian
Havent seen that before but it looks like you are almost there. I would try reflashing with OFFX=112 and OFFY=112 in the spec file. I don't think you can reflash without the battery connected though - at least that is the case with the Innovage and the Coby picframes. -PGby petergunn - Displays
Once the VPN was connected you would access them via their 192.168.1.xxx addresses. You can access the dockstar by its 192.168.1.xxx address as well as 10.8.0.1 -PGby petergunn - Debian

Nice :-) I had the giant gnome/fluxbox fonts issue when I first installed my Displaylink device. You should be able to adjust this by adding a DisplaySize setting to your Monitor section in xorg.conf ... Section "Monitor" Identifier "DisplayLinkMonitor" DisplaySize 190 115 EndSection Replace 190x115 by the real Width x Height in millimeters. -PGby petergunn - Debian

Key differences between the original & the altered script: Original: dhcp-option DNS 10.8.0.1 New: dhcp-option DNS $LAN_DHCP_SERVER I think this means the original assumes there should be a DNS proxy on the OpenVPN end-point when VPN is active. Most people (like me :-) will have a DNS proxy on their router so thats why I changed it. Either way the setting seemed to be ignored with yoby petergunn - Debian
From the laptop with VPN active can you try... ifconfig | grep -A1 '^[^ ]' traceroute -n 192.168.1.1 # you may need to apt-get install traceroute traceroute -n 192.168.42.129 traceroute -n 212.69.213.230 -PGby petergunn - Debian
Looking like a DNS issue - when you activate the VPN on the laptop its supposed to replace the active DNS server (/etc/resolv.conf) with the one from VPN server (192.168.1.1 - your router's DNS proxy) and it doesn't seem to be doing that. The "dhcp-option DNS $LAN_DHCP_SERVER" bit in the setup script is supposed to force that change when you activate VPN. -PGby petergunn - Debian
What is the output of the route command on laptop & dockstar when vpn is active? route -n -PGby petergunn - Debian
That looks like the packaging of the Innovage Generic I have (yup I've got one as well :-) Mine was so old that the battery couldn't hold a charge and I had to write it up a different battery so I could flash it. -PGby petergunn - Displays
Need some more info... From your laptop over VPN: * can you ping your home gateway (router)? * can you ping news.bbc.co.uk? * can you ping 212.58.244.57? * does DNS work? (i.e. nslookup www.demon.net) * does your laptop /etc/rescolv.conf look like your dockstar's /etc/resolv.conf ? Not over VPN: * have you tried restarting openvpn on the dockstar?
