Zyxel NAS326 - Opinions on performance

A local retailer is clearing out some Zyxel NAS326 units for $79.99. Could anyone who has this device comment on performance compared to the Zyxel NSA320? If performance is substantially better than the older NSA320 $80 would be worth the upgrade cost to me.

Ray,

No doubt the NAS326 is much more powerful than the NSA320.

1.6H Ghz CPU
RAM 512MB (same)
Armada SoC (better supports from mainline in every way than Kirkwood)
USB 3.0 (2 ports)
SATA 6Gbs (I'm speculating that it is an unadvertised speed)

Better design:

Nicer Case
Quieter fan

Hi Ray, which local company, i.e. location and/or website?

It's a very good price. But not exactly fire sale price. I bought mine from way back for $US 110, iirc. Hoping I could use it to develop Armada u-boots, but this box UART booting did not work out as well as I hope, so it became a regular NAS for me.

Thanks. BTW, can you provide the linky to the product? I tried to search Frys and nothing shows. Perhaps, it had some problems with its database?

habibie,

Here's the link to Zyxel NSA326. Picked mine up today, just need to determine which existing NAS will sacrifice its drives for the new one!

In my opinion, get a cheap LGA1155 motherboard (eg, Dell optiplex 7010 , I got mine @ $12.99, it has USB 3.0 ) and a cheap CPU (eg, i5-3475s, I got mine @ 15.99, $4 per real core.:P ) from eGay, use your own wasted memory, case, etc, you will get much better performance and you can even install latest MacOS catalina! on it! You can also use the 16GB 'SSD" from M300 and install debian/lubuntu ...
