I can't get any ipaddress on goflex home
July 21, 2013 03:54AM
Hi~~
I've install uboot and failed to install rescue system.
So I've untared Debian-3.8.11-kirkwood-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2 on usb memory.
But I can't get any ipaddress on goflex home.
I can't see any ipaddress on my router.

Here is netconsole output

garyang,

Your uBoot env for rootfs type is:
usb_rootfstype=ext2

So try to extract the rootfs again to an EXT2 formatted USB drive. And try booting with that.

Thanks bodhi

I use ext2 on usb stick.
I made it from ubuntu with gparted.
Is it possible to cause problem?
Do I have to use debian or arch?

No Ext2 is fine, it only needs to macth your uBoot env for usb_rootfstype. And the USB should have has MBR partition, not GPT.

Have you checked this peristent net rules? if you're using my rootfs, it should have already been commented out correctly. But to be sure, take a look at these 2 files:

cat /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
# This file was automatically generated by the /lib/udev/write_net_rules
# program, run by the persistent-net-generator.rules rules file.
#
# You can modify it, as long as you keep each rule on a single
# line, and change only the value of the NAME= key.

# Unknown net device (/devices/platform/mv643xx_eth_port.0/net/eth0) (mv643xx_eth_port)
#SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="00:10:75:xx:xx:xx", ATTR{dev_id}=="0x0", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth0"

cat /lib/udev/rules.d/75-persistent-net-generator.rules
# device name whitelist
KERNEL!="Eth*|ath*|Wlan*[0-9]|msh*|ra*|sta*|ctc*|lcs*|hsi*", \
					GOTO="persistent_net_generator_end"

I just did boot flag on in gparted program(ubuntu 12.10).
Is it correct?
How can I find it is MBR or GPT?

I'll check this

I'v solved this problem.
I just reviewed my bookmark that I saw.

"fw_setenv ethaddr 02:50:43:72:1b:1c" made the problem.
I just removed "ethaddr=02:50:43:72:1b:1c" on environment.
Now It works Great~~~~

Thanks~~ bodhi

But, Goflex changes ethaddr every boot.
How can I fix ethaddr?

garyang,

ethaddr should be set so that it does not change every reboot. Have you looked at those 2 files? I think you still have problem that is network-related.

Thanks for reply
Do you mean I have to remove "#" and save it?
My config is "#SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}~~~"

Another Question.
I untraed Debian-3.8.11-kirkwood-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2 on my usb stick and pluged on goflex.
Do I have to install your two pakage?
linux-3.8.11-kirkwood-tld-3-bodhi.tar.bz2 and linux-3.8.11-kirkwood-tld-3-headers-bodhi.tar.bz2.

I'v really solved this problem.
The problem is netconsole and debian OS have same MAC address and ip address
Netcosole client ip is 192.168.56.101(stactic)
My router's DHCP try to assign 192.168.56.101(first dynamic ip)

So I've moved netcosole client ip to 192.168.56.167(stactic)
Set DHCP to assign 192.168.56.170(dynamic ip) with same MAC address

It works very well.

Thanks bodhi
