Didn't mean to be a downer, just my statement after wasting 20 or so hours over the course of several months trying to get it to work on DP and GP. Not a big deal as combo bt / 433Mbps 5ghz AC adapters are cheap and outperform the built in devices anyway. My favorite are based on the RTL8821cu chipset.

It's good to know that. I was thinking adding Wifi to my designated test box (Pogo V4).

BTW, you got PM.

I have both devices. A TonidoPlug 2 and one that came in a Marvell box with label UGNAS-P30855. The wikidevi entry for Topkick1281P2 was created for the device in the white Marvell box labeled UGNAS-P30855. The only apparent difference is the TonidoPlug 2 has a label identifying it as such. They both have 800 MHz Marvell 88F6283 which according to Marvell differs from the 88F6282 only as follows:
  • 88F6282 High-performance single-issue CPU operating at 1.6GHz, 1.8GHz and 2.0GHz.
  • 88F6283 Low-power single-issue CPU operating at 800MHz or 1GHz.

Huh, was almost sure something somewhere said 2GHz.

LeggoMyEggo,

Use the Topkick DTB. Even the CPU speed is different, it should be more appropriate.

So for serial connection on this, slide rubber boot off and starting from ethernet side GRND (BLACK WIRE), RX (YELLOW WIRE) and TX (BLUE WIRE). Last one towards power plug side is not used. See attached picture.

Edit: Got it to boot using USB of 5.5.1 kernel with the topkick dtb appended to uImage but no Ethernet.. Put firmware-libertas on the rootfs by mounting to another linux computer, dpkg-ed it and still no ethernet or wifi or bluetooth. Gonna try to get one of my external wifi adapters and try it with a USB hub as loading from IDE with this early u-boot version is not supported (I've tried).

Could you post dmesg output.

FIgured it out, had to do a "/sbin/udevadm trigger --type=devices --action=add" to get it to recognize the eth0 on this device. Now eth0 works, on to try to get some of the wireless working.

Re: Debian/U-boot? on the USI Topkick-1281p2 (Tonidoplug2)

Cool! everything looks good except the mtdparts in the bootargs. This box has NAND flash (probably you had copy/paste error)

Quote

[ 0.000000] Kernel command line: console=ttyS0,115200 root=LABEL=rootfs rootdelay=10 mtdparts=spi0.0:0x7f000@0(uboot),0x1000@0x7f000(u-boot-env) earlyprintk=serial

[ 13.654358] 5 fixed-partitions partitions found on MTD device orion_nand
[ 13.661822] Creating 5 MTD partitions on "orion_nand":
[ 13.667693] 0x000000000000-0x000000180000 : "u-boot"
[ 13.675459] 0x000000180000-0x0000001a0000 : "u-boot-env"
[ 13.683422] 0x000000200000-0x000000800000 : "uImage"
[ 13.691127] 0x000000800000-0x000001800000 : "uInitrd"
[ 13.698891] 0x000001800000-0x000010000000 : "rootfs"

So if you want to change envs or flash anything in Debian, the mtdparts should be

Quote

mtdparts=orion_nand:0x180000@0(u-boot),0x20000@0x180000(u-boot-env),0x600000@0x200000(uImage),0x1000000@0x800000(uInitrd),0xe800000@0x1800000(rootfs)

And this is just lack of FW bin file.
