David,

It only means that the connection is not set up properly. Check the wire and the putty setting again. Especially the TX from the PC to RX on the Dockstar.

Hello and thank you for your help -bodhi.
but I remade several times to try the connection on the other pc but always the same.
just be a problem with the cable nokia c42 so I order another.
(PL2303HX USB To RS232 TTL Auto Converter Adapter Module For arduino W/ Cables)

I like to try debian because I read on a forum that already and will happen problem

but with putty on debian I have an error message with the access to the serial port because of the rights ...
I is not open putty as root and must also each access to / dev / ttyUSB0 or UNLOCK to be used by the user
can you give me the key to connect to the serial port (cable nokia c42) under debian.
the command to type in a terminal: (I am the root by causing su)

David,

If you are connecting to the Dockstar from a box running Debian, then you should install and use picocom:

picocom --b 115200 --f n --p n --d 8 /dev/ttyUSB0'

If you are connecting to the Dockstar from a Windows box, use putty and make sure the settings similar to using picocom above:

baud rate 115200
no flow control
no parity
8 bit

so I finally succeeded with debian with the terminal by causing root:
-fn screen -U / dev / 115200 ttyUSB0
I see the same but I still can not type a command
it is possible that this is the cable?
I want to clarify that I had already managed to access the serial port with putty on windows but suddenly it works more so this is why I do not understand

problem solved here is this is the cable
but not on the side of the branchemant DockStar but it was necessary to contact a usb side

Now I would like to have if possible the tutorial Pourr install the new Uboot, kernel and ramdisk
for I uses the following files:
uboot.kwb
uboot.mtd0.dockstar.original.kwb
ce_kernel_redstone_v63.img
ce_ramdisk_v2.0b.img

it's the original file so overcome
I would like the meter has Dockstar day series port that is because I do it like this (and I have a tutorial in french easier for me)
thank you;)

I cannot advise about flashing these files. However, to flash new u-boot and create new rootfs with latest Debian, these are the latest:

Yes, you need to mount a USB stick, and cd there and download to the stick.

You don't need to run that script. Prepare your rootfs on a USB stick, as instructed in the 2nd link I've posted above. To make it simple, use the rootfs 3.16 (Updated 02 Sept 2014). Later you can upgrade to a new kernel.

Install u-boot as instructed in the 1st link. Before rebooting, attach the USB rootfs into the Dockstar.

Re: serial console with putty

Is there a config file in Linux to set a sending serial console window size? I can set the receiving Serial Console window size in Putty settings in Windows, but not the sending frame size by an ARM device. But similar serial config must exist on the device, since it always sends serial frame of some default size. So if Putty window is manually resized, it still shows previous size frames received from ARM device. Its very inconvenient when editing files with VI or Nano.

To change the sent frame size, I use command below. But I want to set it in ARM Serial console config to overwrite the default size and avoid running the command after each boot. Any suggestions?

stty rows 120 cols 80

Or may be its possible to forward these values to kernel from Uboot? Or set the command to autorun at each boot?
