Newly liberated Pogoplug Pro (wifi) need a little direction
August 31, 2017 04:33PM
Hi all,
I have successfully liberated my Pogoplug V3 with the latest Debian posted here and wifi is working fine. This is my first attemp at using Debian, I have 3 Pogoplug 02's running archlinux with no problems but have no experience installing packages or where're find them for this device on Debian. At present my goal is to plug in a USB sound device (C Media) and install a version of squeezebox and shairplay-sync made for this version of Debian but can't seem to find any. Can I use instructions for installing on an RPi3 or is that asking for trouble.

Any direction or help would be appreciated, thank you in advance for reading this message.

Squeezebox was renamed to Logitech Media Server some time ago when Logitech bought SqueezePlay. See http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,28737 for how to install on Debian Jessie.

Thanks to all, I will try this. I have one other question I have :

I'm running Debian 4.4.54 and Linux 4.4.79 (links form here for Oxas , is it ok and safe to issue regular "apt - get update" and "apt get - upgrade dist-upgrade" commands?

See this in the Wiki thread:

Debian Distribution Upgrade

Ugrading to Debian stretch

If you want to upgrade from wheezy to jessie, the instruction is similar to the above.

Note that the mkimage command in the example is for Kirkwood box, not Oxnas (your box).

What's the advantage of "Jessie", do you recommend it?

It you run the box for a specific application such as LMS, there is not really any advantage. Just watch the LMS releease and upgrade system whenever LMS is upgraded to it.

Looker,

Are there a lot of packages already installed?

If you can start with a new rootfs. Then create a new rootfs.

The root filesystem on /dev/sda1 requires a manual fsck

I tried running fsck on /dev'sda1 but it aborts saying it can't save the file.

Any Ideas?

Looker,

Your rootfs file system should be checked and fixed errors. The errors were serious enough that the in-kernel fs check has failed.

Take it to another Linux box and run e2fsck.
