Debian Squeeze installer broken?

Nice!
These four lines delete the new not working debootstrap.
The script checks for an installed debootstrap and won't overwrite it. So we need to remove it and run the installer again to extract the older working debootstrap.

I can't install debian squeeze on my dockstar.

Jeff'S, gorgone's and shyd's scripts didn't work either

http://projects.doozan.com/debian/dockstar.debian-squeeze.sh
http://ss4200.homelinux.com/dockstar/gogo-dock.sh
http://dev.shyd.de/dockstar/dockstar.debian-squeeze.sh

During debootstrap installation I got the following errors:

# Starting debootstrap installation
I: Retrieving Release
W: Cannot check Release signature; keyring file not available /usr/share/keyrings/debian-archive-keyring.gpg

debootstrap failed.
See /tmp/debian/debootstrap/debootstrap.log for more information.

The logfile isn't very helpful at all

rescue:/tmp# cat /tmp/debian/debootstrap/debootstrap.log

Searching through the forums none of the tips helped so far :(

I am a little helpless right now.

What can I do to get past of this debootstrap error?

PS:

I have installed lenny without error, so I can update to squeeze later but lenny did not but correctly.
The dockstar led is solid yellow after a while and I did not get an ip address. can't ssh or anything.
Kernel 2.6.3.x gets loaded and then nothing. Do the old 2.6.x kernels work with the newer uboot =>
U-Boot 2011.12 (Feb 12 2012 - 21:33:07) ?

Rescue image in flash with U-Boot 2011.12 and Linux-3.3.2-kirkwide works without problem.

@-michael-

I have used the rescue system from davygravy as stated in rescue v2 thread.

http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?4,3896,7905#msg-7905

I wonder why this isn't working for me.

I got same problem with Rescue V2.1 from davygravy, then i flashed Rescue V2.0 from Jeff and the debian installer works again.

@-michael-

You are right. It worked with Jeff's rescue system V2 in flash. With version v2.1 or later or with the debian kirkwood-debian-rootfs_image with kernel 3.2l from davygravy it did not. Then the above mentioned errors occur.

I could not explain this issue. It's a bit strange...

Did anyone know why the installation fails when another rescue image is used as the v2 from Jeff?

Doesn't make any sense to me....

@davygravy

Anyway, thank you for helping me try to fix this problem :)

Did you install debian earlier with that nand-installation? If so, the old debootstrap remains in nand, the script won't overwrite it. You have to delete it manually in pogoplug/rescue and rerun the installation script.
mount -o remount,rw /
rm /usr/sbin/debootstrap
rm -r /usr/share/debootstrap
mount -o remount,ro /

Hi guys,

I got this error while trying to install debian from script:

I: Configuring linux-image-2.6.32-5-kirkwood...

debootstrap failed.
See /tmp/debian/debootstrap/debootstrap.log for more information.

Can anyone help?
thanx

forgot to tell that i am installing on a pogoplug E02. I checked the log file as well, here is the output:

Setting up linux-image-2.6.32-5-kirkwood (2.6.32-45) ...
Running depmod.
Ok, continuing as directed
debconf: DbDriver "config": could not write /var/cache/debconf/config.dat-new: Input/output error
dpkg: error processing linux-image-2.6.32-5-kirkwood (--configure):

unable to fsync updated status of `ntpdate': Input/output error
chroot: cannot execute dpkg: Permission denied
chroot: cannot execute dpkg: Permission denied

chroot: cannot execute dpkg: Permission denied

There is some sort of permission problem. But I am not sure where to begin...
thanx

I read some stuff on this forum and reinstalled the script, with another usb stick, and i worked.
So this one is solved!
