Debian not working after reboot on Dockstar
May 03, 2011 01:30AM
Hi there,

I have installed debian on my Dockstar following these steps: http://jeff.doozan.com/debian/.
It worked well, I had ssh access, samba, UFW configured.

I tried rebooting the Dockstar with "shutdown -r 0". But when it restarted, I had no access to the Dockstar.
I can ping it, but have no ssh access. I have mounted the USB key on my computer to modify the UFW configuration file so that is disabled at startup. But I still have the same problem. I can see that the USB key is used (the USB key LED is blinking at startup).

Anyone had the same problem? Any solution? Any idea on what happened? System is corrupted?

Thanks!

PS: I have read the topics on how to debug with a serial cable, but I have don't have one just now. I will connect one if I have no other solution.

You don't need a serial cable mandatory. Boot into Pogo and do the steps explained here: http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,14

Thanks shyd for your reply.
I didn't see that when unplugging the USB key, the dockstar was connecting with another IP address and booting in Pogo. I was trying to ping the same IP address as when booting with Debian and didn't see anything.

When logged in Pogo, I had to run /usr/sbin/fw_setenv, fw_setenv was not found otherwise.
nc is working, I get the output:

So looks like kernel starts correctly...

Ping is working, but ssh connection is refused.

The fw_setenv is due to missing
export PATH=$PATH:/sbin:/usr/sbin

Are you sure you have disabled UFW at startup or enabled ssh? If you need to do things in chroot like update-rc.d try it in Pogo by booting into it and then mounting the usb stick in Pogo.
