GoFlex Home - Restore factory firmware

I have few Goflex Home devices on which I have installed the new uBoot and have debian running.

Now, is it possible to go back to the original Seagate firmware? Can it be done if I have no backup at all? If I have the mtd dumps will it be possible?

TIA! :)

Yes, you can.

Get the uboot-mtd0-orig-goflexhome.kwb from http://goflex.scottn.us/ .

As I read many of your posts, I'm sure you know how to write it to mtd0.

After that you can flash the original Seagate Firmware with an FAT-formatted USB Stick an the hold-the-Reset-button-at-powerup-trick (as described at Seagate support)

I did it that way - it worked flawlessly.

Have fun!

Seagate stock FW flashing:

Thanks Phil for sharing! I've been wondering what's the sure way to do this, if the stock FW flashing does not work because one had flashed different UBoot :-)

^ Thank you Phil and bodhi! :)

Once I flash the stock uBoot, do I need to do anything about the uBoot environment? Is there any device specific information (the serial number or something like that) that needs to be entered?

After you've flashed back to the stock FW, the product key is erased. But it's not necessary to reenter because you can then enter it manually when you connect to the Web interface. From a different box, use web browser to connect to the GF Home IP address (http://ipaddress), and create a user. That user will be able to become root.
