On bootcmd and dockstar + openwrt

Newbie here and I think I need a bit of help understanding bootcmd. Let's say first I installed the u-boot and openwrt in my dockstar. Do I need to specify bootcmd if I want to boot off flash?

If I do, should it be pointing to where the kernel is (I think that would be at 0x200000)? I mean as in

setenv bootcmd nand read.e 0x800000 0x200000 0x300000\; go 0x800000

If I installed it by

nand write.e 0x800000 0x100000 0x40000

would that mean the original boot is still there and jeff's u-boot is being called as a 2snd stage one?
