Old NSA310 resurrection
October 13, 2023 08:52AM
Long story short: I installed openwrt on the nsa310 and it worked perfectly, then I wanted to install Debian.
I bricked it, I managed to revive it, I made a USB stick following the tutorials here and I get the following error with restart
I would like to ask if someone can help me.
Thank you

** No partition table - usb 0 **

You need to redo the USB rootfs. Remember to create it exactly how it was described in the installation instruction for Debian-5.13.6-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2.

https://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,12096

Quote

Installation can be done on any Linux box, with a fresh USB drive (SD card or HDD would work fine too).

Note: all steps below must be done while logging in as root user (not sudo). If you are not the root user then don't continue, because the rootfs will not work.

1. Format a new USB drive with a single Ext3 partition, and label it rootfs. If you are running the latest U-Boot for Kirkwood then you can use Ext4. But be aware that Ext4 file system format needs to be "finalized" before it can be used for booting.

As root user:

Use commandline fdisk to wipe out the USB drive, create a new MBR partition (this is the default). And format it as Ext3 (to keep it simple, don't use Ext4 ). And then extract the tarball,.... following the rest of the instruction.

Don't use a GUI (as in Ubuntu/Mint, or other desktop GUI) to do this. Because most of the time, the dialog runs in normal user mode, not root.

yes sir!, I was wrong about the root part...
now boot but I have another error, pls see the log.
I would like to ask if I can put this partition on an SSD that also contains other partitions of the system?
Thank you for help!

I would like to ask if I can put this partition on an SSD that also contains other partitions of the system?

Yes, as long as you label that SSD rootfs partition as rootfs, u-boot and kernel will find it and boot. This SSD rootfs partition must be the 1st partition on that disk.

Note that there must be only one partition labeled rootfs exists in the system. So remove the USB thumb drive before you reboot. Keep the USB drive as an emergency rootfs whenever you need to boot it temporarily (as in when the SSD rootfs is corrupted, or messed up in anyway).

I installed Debian and Openmediavault, but I have some errors and I would like to ask if it can be activated in Kernel SECCOMP?
Thank you

SECCOMP is already in the kernel. You should install kernel linux-6.4.11-kirkwood-tld-1.
