Very nice pics! It would be even better if you can post a little more about the network stack. How these plugs are used together, i.e. what the rPi runnng pihole is about.

alright so, the dhcp server on the wifi router assigns the raspberry pi running https://pi-hole.net/ as dns for the local network, and it's working brilliantly as an adblock solution, but at $35+? it's not a particularly cost effective solution. I saw someone on reddit has successfully gotten pihole to run on the pogoplug v4 mobile, so that'll be the next step here, freeing up the raspberry pi for a project that would make better use of it's capabilities (like hdmi out).

the pogoplug pros are running debian, with one of them running syncthing and samba off of the sata drive, and the other with netatalk configured as a time machine backup using the sata drive for three mac laptops.

the sata drives are mounted externally inside repurposed usb 3.0 enclosures on the side of the pogoplug pros using double sided mounting tape, and this looked pretty spiffy, so I went ahead and mounted the v4 mobiles the same way, and these incredibly tiny $10 consumer gigabit switches on top of the v4 mobiles.

of course this isn't ideal, it's way better to have a single switch than two daisy chained, but this was more about having the smallest foot print possible in a mostly self contained block of equipment instead of a maze of cables and power adapters. the switches and raspberry pi are all 5v powered, and the pogoplug pros have a robust power supply so it was a perfect match, in running them off the USB ports

the two pogoplugs v4 mobiles are as of now, not configured, but they too will be powered from the 12v supply inside the pogoplug pro, further simplifying the wiring. all in all, for seven network devices, just two power outlets would be tied up - until I can source a IEC C7 y-splitter bringing that down to just one for the entire setup

They were from aliexpress but these days I make my own cables using a crimper like this:

The shortest Ethernet cable I can find on ebay is 0.2m (about 8"). 3 USD each.

Do you have any issues with daisy chaining switches? Cost quickly goes up with 48 port switches but 24's and 16's are really inexpensive.

I don't have any issue with daisy chaining switches at all. They are low cost unmanaged switches

Now that we are discussing network, there is an inherent issue with wireless bridges that I've seen and not bothering to do something about. Perhaps you or somebody did too.

With wirleless bridges, the boxes behind it all appear to have the same MAC address to others in the network (the bridge's MAC address). This prevents the WOL to work correctly. I would imagine I could install OpenWrt on the wireless bridge and do something there make sure each IP address has its own correct MAC addr. But these wireless bridges are deep in the local network, I'm lazy :) and just use stock FW.
