Unbelievably cool. It kills me to mention this but check this out if it's legit, brand new for cheap.
So is it pure digital out or analog? I hoard these (ordered two last week with the last of my jing) because my eyes told me to quit using VGA and switch over to all digital when possible (it's mostly possible) lol

Gravelrash,

I did recommend this box in the other thread where you were looking for another low cost ARM box. I bought one, but have not hacked into it yet.

Mainline has basic supports for this SoC. So I expect my board bringup will be not difficult.

digging deeper, it might not be suitable for this forum...

The Armada 500 series is aimed at high-end smartbooks and tablets. The specs for the 500 series are:
Marvell Sheeva ARMv7 at 1.2GHz
Wireless MMX2
512K L2 cache
2D/3D hardware accelerated graphics
DDR2
WUXGA, HD1080p video playback
Integrated SATA, PCIe and Gigabit Ethernet

any thoughts? @bodhi

Joey,

It is legit. I bought mine for about $30. But beware of high shipping. It is to discourage returns.

Gravelrash,

I like this low cost SoC. Note the DDR2, Sheeva core. That’s why it is low cost. Bu it would make a real good low cost Linux desktop, or sever, or a simple media center.

Congrats you guys. The ThinClient I'm using has similar specs and is a great overall desktop computer. But, the SATA drive made a big difference. I'll be watching that video over and over and making goals for next winter. My feelings are, it's still a good time to put the pennies toward any storage medium, whether Sandisk or WD etc. And a big magnifying glass on an arm with a light. Solder iron with a sewing needle tip. Ahh... when will Summer end...

Cool :) I'm going to be very busy in the next 6 weeks (works and trips). But I might be able to spend a few hours to open up the box and hook up serial console, and try to boot Debian. We''ll go slowly.
